AR15 not firing

Hey you guys, I bought a used ar15 a few weeks ago. Its mil spec. A bunch of custom parts.

the gun works, As my friend sold it to me, and we have shot the gun a bunch of times before.

I took it to the range today,

I used frangible rounds which are the only rounds allowed there..

I had two clips.
The first two rounds fired fine in the first clip.

Than I put the second clip in, and the rounds did not fire at all.

I tried about 15 different rounds none fired.

the rounds are getting the small firing pin dent on them, so I know nothings broken. What are some causes of this?

Sounds like light primer strikes.

Did you install a new trigger, or was the existing trigger swapped prior to purchase? More seasoned members will be able to offer more guidance.

Try cleaning the bolt carrier group and chamber really good first.

Then try real ammo at a range that will let you shoot it.

Well, maybe if you swap out the clips for magazines it will start to work?

I would clean it out really good, then go to a different range and try with regular ammo first.

I believe mil spec requires the gun to fire....most likely bum ammo.

Pour some Mil-Spec fluid into the reservoir. It'll fire right up.

Could be lots of things. Try cleaning really well and lubing everything. ARs like it wet. Check hammer spring direction. Try real ammo. Try a different BCG.

Is it ejecting normally? Are you hand cycling it after it doesn't fire?

Those little dents are from chambering the round. Floating firing pin and all that.

Can you hear the hammer fall?

Have you checked the Mil-Spec dipstick?

Yes the Hammer falls, I can hear it. Even when I dry fire it clicks.

I am going to try to clean it, it is crazy dirty. I can tell by just looking at it it needs a good cleaning.

No I did not install anything new.
