What's your preference? Open Carry vs Concealed Carry

Since Peruta vs San Diego didn't go as well as we wanted it to go, there are a lot of people talking about open carry possibly becoming legal. Personally I would prefer being able to concealed carry, also, I wouldn't want open carry to come back with the restrictions of not being able to have your gun loaded.


My questions to you is:
Would you rather be able to open carry or concealed carry and why?



My Preference: Concealed Carry
Why?:

• I don't want bad guys to know I am armed (They can figure that out the hard way)
• I don't want to be shot and killed by a bad guy because he wants to steal my gun
• I don't want gun owners to be easily identified, people have a right to privacy

But damn it, if you're a politically active gun owner, wearing your gun is a statement that you are NOT A THREAT and CARRYING GUNS DOESN'T MAKE OTHERS UNSAFE.

If they give us open carry and I'm still here, I will find the most obnoxious holsters and cheap derringers to wear to make a statement. At least from time to time.

This is culture war dude. Acting like "preference" enters into it is missing the outright assault on the 2nd amendment, gun culture, self defense, and equality of regular people to rich people.

As for ULOC- I don't think they'll rule for that. That's silly. ULOC resulted from an oversight, NOT a policy.

The very PRESENCE and APPEARANCE of a gun is what they hate. Judges either will feel they have the juice to ban the possession of one in public- loaded OR unloaded- or they won't, and they'll allow loaded, because the unloaded is so strange and lacks case law it doesn't even make sense for citations of WHY unloaded would be ok but loaded would not, and they'd already lose what they care about- people not seeing or thinking about guns. Plus it's so facially stupid (and unsupported in case law; UL vs. L) that they'd be risking smackdown for something they don't even really care about.

It's the idea of guns, not the practicality, they hate.

Wearing a gun may certainly help desensitize people and make them more understanding. I can understand your reason for open carry completely, people would start to think, "Well, I walked past 200 people today who were carrying a gun and not one person got shot, mugged, robbed, etc..."

Exactly why I would prefer concealed. You can't use a gun to protect yourself when you're dead because you were shot in the back of the head without warning.

Definitely preferred open carry in a couple scenarios when I lived in Virginia. If you maintain SA, then there's no problem. Being allowed to decide for yourself in any given situation would be the dream.
