The tracking says it was delivered on monday but it wasn't.

I just want to make sure I am not legally *required* to get signature confirmation before I start calling CA DOJ and ATF.

Report the loss to your local PD and give them the serial number. The PD will enter the firearm as stolen into AFS (Automated Firearm System). If it is ever found, it can be returned to you.

Albeit it wasn't a firearm part, I have had packages show up a day or two after the status showed it was delivered. I chalk it up to an inaccurate tracking system.

I avoid the USPS when possible. I ordered a package and had a tracking number showed it was at sorting facility for 2 weeks I filed a report the manager told me they could not find the package. I asked then what was the use of having a tracking number? "She responded to know where the package is at". WTH I felt like I was in a Abbott and Costello episode. We went at it for 20 mins and left frustrated. 3 months later ordered a holster and the vendor only ships USPS I was like not again? a week later holster and missing package show up at my house. I try to avoid USPS when ever possible.

Hope everything works out and it gets delivered.
I guess I'm lucky in that I have had very few problems with USPS, UPS and FedEx. No lost packages only short delays as UPS didn't load my package on the truck several times and there was a one day delay. Only real problem is FedEx doesn't like to leave my packages by my front door, they leave them just inside my front gate. USPS has one lazy delivery lady that has caused me a one day delay twice now. I reported her to the local post office, we'll see how that goes.

Just to give you a heads up, same situation I had a expensive optic scope being delivered to me, it showed delivered on tracking status but I never received it. I called USPS and they were clueless. Sure enough a week later it gets delivered. So hopefully your situation is the same in that they scanned it wrong.

I'm filing a claim with USPS, but who else should I file a report with? It's a Nodakspud receiver for an AK so not exactly the easiest thing to convert to anything useable, but I don't want a receiver with my name on it floating around.
I hate to tell you but, DOJ keeps firearms records permanently. So, if you purchased it after 12-31-13, it will ALWAYS have your name attached to it in CA. Sending it to an out of state FFL isn't going to change that and, CA DOJ won't even know you ever did that. Transferring to another CA resident through a CA FFL would end up showing that you disposed of it but, it will still show that you once owned it.

They don't lose things, they let them get stolen.
