Op bought a ghost gunner CNC machine from defense distributed to mill 80 percent lowers into stripped lower. The company that sells it promised future files for the machine that would allow it to skelatonize lower, mill 1911 receivers, ect. But it never happened. Many people that bought them are getting really frustrated with the wait.

Personally I think DD has no intention of creating the files themselves and left the device with open source coding so an end user could do the work for them and post it to the web.

Wow. Thanks. That's pretty hardcore. I remember seeing the thread about these a while back. I never thought they would actually get build for distribution.

Ok, I get it now. Thanks Sapperforward.

I watched (on utube) a video of some young guy yapping about making parts and availability due to geographical this or that... He was annoying.

Anywho, I still would not buy a gadget to make AR receivers. I can buy them in the store all finished and anodized for around $50 bucks give or take. Why bother making one when the finished product is so cheap and available..

The cost of an 80% lower (or a piece of Alum billet) + the wear and tear on the equipment and cutting tools is much higher than the readily available product. I still think it is a scam to sell the gadget
The code for AR lower is commonly available and was used by many shops before they were closed down. So DD took some available on the internet code and made up a lie to market their box.

How much is this DD device costing the members? Some one please post.

I know, I know, someone is going to say I do not want the Gov to have the serial number on my gun.

heidad01, you don't seem to understand, DD isn't in this for the money. Maybe if they were they would offer a more complete product.

I want to say that those that pre ordered paid $1,200 and those that bought after release paid $1,500. Something like that.

most of us are CA residents where the cost of a single stripped lower with fees easily hits $200

i got my GG 2.0 last night
cranked out a lower in 2 hours. [showered and cooked dinner while it was going]

i read in the instructions that the state dept forbids them from running a forum, so they shut it down.

that may be why they didn't get to upload and share the files.

not making excuses for them. just what i saw last night while setting it up.

FYI got mine running on a macbook

figured it out myself. none of the instructions tell you how to do that.
the site says it can be done. but the instructions & files sent out with the machine are pc only. [exe files]

I believe the State Department's position is that a website hosting CAD files of munitions is an ITAR violation. Of course, there are similar CAD files all over the web, but DD is an easy target for the Feds.

Load your Mazak or Haas mill with some bar stock of your choice (steel, Alum, Brass, even plastic/polymer) and feed the code to the mill. Depending on the part and the complexity, you will have a finished part in less than 30 minutes.
Haha, if 3d scanners and CAM software worked that well there would be a lot of folks out of work.

Why would you do that? Most reputable FFLs have glass cases full of them.

                          No they don't.
Cheapest lowers at LGS was 135.00 for Andersons. But then, I actually spent gas checking it out personally. Not some intrawebz search.
Anything with a name other than Anderson was in the 160.00 to 180.00 range, locally of course. And those were not the expensive ones.

Big Chuck, aka other "chuck" names on other boards (yeah I've seen you out there), is a troll whose job is to attack and spread fear, doubt and misinformation about Defense Distributed and the Ghost Gunner product, among other names he may use and other companies/technologies he may attack on other sites. You have the same type of goons on the alternative health sites and the zero point energy sites etc. - viciously attacking anything that frees, enables, liberates, works or is True.

I am not going to defend Def Dist as anyone with any degree of discernment and intelligence can see what this company is and what it does. Sure, you can buy an 80% lower and figure out how to finish it yourself and get what you get, but if you want the ability to right now build yourself (multiple) mil spec DPMS clone lowers legally unregistered and unserialized that are as accurate as any gun or parts you can buy, this machine is the best you can do. It's not for everyone. It's a niche product for a limited market. Some people just want a DIY build as cheap as possible.

I personally see value in the ability to discretely make a legal number of high quality "off grid" firearms. It's not always about value, "equity" or money. I like that I can buy and own that type of freedom for me and mine. I don't mind waiting for new .dd programs to come out. Rather than ***** and moan about a lack of programs and "throw the baby out with the bathwater," I'll figure out how to write or create the code myself. That’s something a real man can get done, Chuck.

Right now with a GG you can build mil spec DPMS quality AR15's and an AR.308's - plural. I'm waaaaay happy with that. The 1911 and other programs will show up but bear in mind, the more functional and versatile this device is the more of a threat it becomes. Def Dist and their Ghost Gunner product is under attack and will be regulated out of existence just as soon as the feds can figure out how. If the fed's have their way, there will soon be a day you will not be able to buy or even use one of these devices or any CNC machine legally, then you may wish you had one.

This device is exactly what the "powers that be" do not want available to people. Do yourself and us all a favor and dismiss "Big Chuck" for the duplicitous troll that he is. He brings nothing to the table. He offers nothing but his own ignorant ****house opinions intended only to turn others off to this technology and company, if you are dumb enough to agree with him. If you don't want to buy a GG machine don't, but base your decision on sound research measured against your personal desires and not the crap spewing from this dickheads mouth. Yeah, I'm talking to you Chuck.

In fact, if you really do have a GG machine and are that unhappy with it, I will buy it right now for exactly what you paid for it. Prove yourself to be real.

Now, if people would just figure out all the Federal statutes, civil law and regulations only apply to US citizens - having taken the US citizenship test and oath - and actually living in Federally owned territories (such as Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, Washington DC, military forts and lands, post offices, federal court houses etc. or working directly for the US government, we could straighten out this mess real quick.

All the federal gun laws only apply to US citizens who are federal employees and/or live in federal territories. If you were born in the US of A and did not take an Oath of Citizenship, do not work for the government and do not live on federally owned property, you are not a federal citizen by definition. You are a Free State National and no federal laws apply to you.

You have been and are being duped. See. read and learn: https://organiclaws.org/ , among other things...

I paid $160 years ago during the scares for a Franklin lower. It was under $200 OTD. Haven't seen those prices since except for top grade billet sets.

The last one I bought was a Anderson locally for $49. It was about $80 OTD.
