So I found a Les Baer Stinger (off roster) here and paid below new retail.

Not a bargain in any other state, but not a premium either.

Non roster pistols at non insane prices can be found, but it is supply and demand. There were a few stingers in the market place around the same time, and $2,000+ guns don't have many buyers stepping up

Its been a while since I've been in the market for a new pistol, but now I am. I started looking at the Marketplace page for my wanted pistol and was shocked at the asking prices. I'm seeing $1000 markups. Seriously? Is this normal? People are crazy if they pay these prices. I expected some markup, but this?

Yes. There are a **** ton number of rubes out there who will happily pay far in excess to what the gun sells for in the rest of the country.

You have to not compare it to prices that "the rest of the world" pays. Gas in Oklahoma may be less than here but that's not really relevant.
At least that's what I tell myself when I buy anything at a premium...

Fortunately I'm not in a rush and can wait to find my prize at a decent price. There are a couple in the Marketplace at ok prices but of course they are far away and can't ship. Travel expenses and time would further run up the price. Ugh...

The same applied when I sold the .357 C.O.P.s I had, I charged as much as I could get because I could! And I got it!!

Read my original post. I'm not placing blame on the sellers. I just find it hard to believe how much markup some of the buyers are willing to pay. Totally different. If you want to overpay, thats on you.

Agreed. Dont blame the seller. Blame the suckers... I mean buyers. The seller is just asking the fair market price. Why would they sell something for less if someone is willing to pay more? That would be dumb to turn down more money. If people stop buying then prices will come down. Very simple.

Its a lot like realestate in the Bay Area. People keep complaining and blaming speculators for selling properties at astronomical prices. The buyers are always the driving force pushing higher prices.
