Generally yes, but there may be some specific cities that may prohibit this with their municipal codes (I've heard the City of Los Angeles may be a problem). I would search here. I live in OC and have never had an issue. Hope that helps.

As much as I'd like to support my local shops, I cannot remember buying ammo at any local stores... Online has been the only place I've purchased ammo.

I simply don't buy ammo locally, I only buy online. With the rare, rare exception if Walmart. LGS are over priced & don't shift pricing based on current indicators, they just stay at high prices. You can often get it tax free, shipped free, and to your door - and it's cheaper. Online ammo is the way to go IMHO.

I only buy online and occasionally FTF from fellow Calgunners.

OP-keep an eye out for sales in the Deals, Sales, and Coupons section of the Marketplace.

Check local regulations to see if your city prohibits shipments of ammunition. Some sites will already list the cities they cant/wont ship to in their shipping section. If they dont ship to your locale, you can have it sent somewhere else like work or a friend's house where its not probited

Yes, but you can't have it shipped within the CITY of Los Angeles. Beverly Hills, Culver City, West Hollywood - all OK. I understand its also OK to receive ammo in LaVerne, Pomona, Lancaster & Palmdale. Order on-line and input the zip code the ammo will be shipped to. You'll be informed whether or not the city will accept ammo.

Lgs is way too expensive. I always order online, get free shipping, never a problem

Well, some vendors believe that's true. Others don't.

Rather, on a per-vendor basis, you'll learn what the vendor believes is in their best interests - and ordinarily they're pretty immovable on that, so plan to shop around.

Some online retailers will voluntarily restrict where they want to ship to. My city has no laws that restrict the online sale of ammo, but a lot of the online retailers annoyingly black list my city.

New law in effect for beginers ordering ammo online.

                            Breaking News:

It is now The Law, requiring you to send me 10% of all of your online ammo purchases for quality assurance purposes until further notice.

Just don't try to have any tracer ammo or incendiary ammo shipped to CA. That would be illegal - maybe a felony. Not just 50 cal, but 5.56 and 7.62 of that type are available and completely legal in AZ.
