Ruger Precision Rifle Prices???

I finally decided to get a RPR in 6.5 Creedmore and was SHOCKED at what they are selling for!
MSRP was $1399, Cabellas had them for $1299. NONE seem to be available ANYWHERE, except GunBroker.
They are selling on Gunbroker for WAY over $1500.
I just looked again today and saw "Buy it Now" price $1799!!!!!

Friend of mine ordered one last October, and also started paperwork on a suppressor. He has the suppressor, RPR still on order, lol.

I grabbed one at budsgunshop.com last week for $1030 shipped. They can be found at a good price if you are patient. I recommend visit all the usual gun websites and signing up for their stock notification. Then set your e-mail to alert you when you get an in stock notice.

I don't get the hype over these simply based on performance. Maybe it's the way it looks? I think it does look cool.

A guy at our range here at Pala Indian Reservation took one out (308 variant) and couldn't hit a 24 inch steel plate at 800 yards. Guy had a really nice Vortex HS-T and couldn't put 1 round out of 30+ shots onto the plate. Maybe the barrel was bad? Granted 800 yards is a tough shot for a .308, but I've seen guys do it regularly with with Remington 700s in .308 no problem.

I think a Remington 700 5R is by far the better rifle for the price.

I think its a beautiful platform. Senator Deleon is probably wondering how this cannot be an assault weapon in California. When the prices settle, I plan on adding one of these in .223 match or .308 to my little collection!

Is a couple hundred bucks worth getting it now or do you want to risk the price and availability getting worse because of California law induced panic buying?
For me being able to shoot it this summer would be worth paying close to retail.

Depends on the caliber - if you want the 6.5, you're gonna wait. If you want the .243 I saw one in turners 2 weeks ago
