It's a political protest over "campus carry" laws that prohibits licensed carry permit holders from carrying while on a school/college campus.

Apparently it was an empty holster protest, aimed at the schools gun free zone policy. Firearm was left at home.

I believe it was part of an organized protest against legislation creating "gun free zones" on college campuses.

Note that the article states "issued a campus judicial citation." This is most likely an internal campus action that brings the student to whatever student conduct department they have, as opposed to actual city court. So a campus can regulate student conduct as they deem fit within their guidelines.

Granted, I agree that this should not have warranted the citation to begin with, even if it is just campus judicial affairs.

I believe there has been a trend of teaching/training police officers to not use their brains and to just write tickets and/or to arrest and drag people's arses into jail and leave the thinking to someone else.

What the heck is the difference between an empty holster and one of those belt thingys that some dorky looking nerds wear on their belts and keep the iPhone in?? What if this poor schmock wanted to use a holster to keep his phone in? Next is a law that says you can not use any gun accessories in public because the general public and LEOs are just too stupid to look and comprehend what is what.

But if he is a sworn LEO.....ie an actual "state/gov't official" he would still be precluded from taking actions against someone that would violate their constitutional rights. And if the school is a state university the school cannot violate their rights either.

He may have just been wearing it as a form of 1A exercising. Look at the posters on their display table, "trigger warning", "microaggressions", and "Can we take a joke?" Obviously they are protesting the lack of 1A at college campuses these days.

For those who haven't been paying attention, the 1A is under an even worse brutal attack than the 2A at college campuses these days. Scary stuff.
