When will gun prices come down?

I know everyone is afraid of Obama passing anti-gun legislation and people are trying to buy up to avoid a ban or other restrictions. How long do you think it will take after he is elected for people to believe that no such bans will take place and for gun prices to come back down to reality?

When I say gun, I'm referring to rifles mostly, but handguns, too.

Never. Because I am sure that the 111th Congress and the Obama Administration, being anti-gun to their very socialist cores, are indeed going to craft a series of restrictive punitive legislation. The mass buying / arming of the american citizenry will continue, until the Democrats panic and attempt to impose even more egregious violations of the Second Amendment.
And then the shooting will start.

ETA - I was just in Turners Pasadena a couple hours ago and other than literally 5-6 semi-auto pistols, there wasn't a single non-Fudd gun left in the whole place. The buying frenzy has paused because there's temporarily little left to buy.

when supply is greater than demand. Actually that is far too simplistic because there are a myriad of costs associated with manufacture and distribution of firearms that do influence the retail pricing, including the cost of transporting raw materials and finished products.

All that being said, two weeks sounds about right to me too.

This to me sounds like the kind of FUD that is driving these sales to begin with. There is no actual basis for these beliefs, IMO, and manufacturers/some sellers are benefiting handsomely from it at the expense of scared consumers.

I'd hate to be locked out of the market after selling my gun!

I was at BayAreaGunVault yesterday and saw a Noveske N6 lower for $800. I had to look twice to see if I saw it correctly.

Actually what is driving people is the realization that they were asleep at the wheel when it comes to buying guns before its too late.
The democrats will attempt to re-instate the Clinton aw ban (modified of course) and BO is about as anti gun as they come based on his voting record

Do I think they will be successful post Heller ? no.

I agree, Heller is a big factor in all of this. And with the way things are, it would be a damn shame if they dedicate their energies to making life more difficult for us rather than fixing the mess that we all face vis-a-vis the economy and everything else.

I suspect ammo prices will start to drop now that copper and lead are down to there old prices

Actually from my view, for used, non-"evil/black" guns, I think the prices are already headed down.

Despite the initial thought that there would be an all out buying frenzy for all types of guns, the media push following the election has been primarily focused on the near depression-like economic conditions. This seems to have sparked a selling trend for those extra, 'unused' guns in people's safes since everyone seems to be scrambling for cash now.

Just look at the substantial increase in the private sales section (used to be 1-2 pages a day, now 4 or 5), and the lack of buyers for some of these guns that normally would be snatched up quickly. I've been looking at many postings, seeing multiple bumps with price drops and many responses like "if only I had the cash" and "I can't believe this hasn't sold yet".

For all the fear of impending bans and general Obama badness in the coming months, there seems to be a stronger fear of being laid off, unable to pay rent, etc in the coming days/weeks.

I'm hoping that prices will come back to reality. I'm thinking the panic buying is just about done(for now anyway).

If I was smart, earlier this year I'd have bought 20+ OLL lowers @ $100 a pop. The prices they're selling for now are just astounding...

I'm gonna buy as much as I can when the prices do go down. I hope that will come soon because I would like to build an AR or get an M1A soon.

I don't think the prices on any semi-auto firearm are going to go down.

Guns got cheaper at my business, not more expensive.

Dealers can do what they want, including jacking up prices.

If you ever want to know a wholesale price so you have something to bargain with, just ask me. I will be more than happy to tell you that those Glocks really cost about $440-$480.

Yes, they are ripping you off. This is my opinion and the driving force behind my dealership.
