    Ammunition walked to checkout?

I just purchased some ammo from Big 5 in Orange County and the clerk handed the ammo I wanted to a manager to walk it up to the checkout counter. I asked him what that was about and he mumbled something about new laws. A quick search here and CalDOJ didn't reveal anything. Is this just local BS or store policy? Any info would be appreciated.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, in practice, there is.

Hey, they can hump ammo for me all the way to the car if they like.

They probably have a theft problem or just store policy.

Yeah, Turners does this sometimes too. Whatever, like someone else said, if they want to lug around my ammo while I shop, cool.

Last year at Big 5 I bought my 870 and some shells for it. They told me I had to take the shotgun to my car and come back in to purchase the shells. By the time I came back in the guy helping me, had my shells at the register.

I think they don't want you to hold-up the place till you've payed for the ammo.
            seems fair to me

              It's probably just company policy.

Never had that happen at my Big 5. Must be the manager of that particular store.

As to not giving someone a shotgun and shells at the same time, after seeing the first Terminator movie I'd be concerned too. Funny thing is there's nothing to stop you from loading it in your car and then coming back.

Big 5 is kinda weird sometimes. When I bought my Mosin the manager had to walk it up to the register to be rung up. Why? I still had to wait their 11 day period. Then when I picked it up after the waiting period I went to the gun counter and after finalizing the paperwork they just handed it to me?

That's probably what the company policy actually is

                        Wal-Mart sometimes does that.

We do it at the Sports Authority, silly store policy.

Theoretically if we don't we can and will get fired...

Not of us follow it..if ya catch my drift

Only a store policy, no laws involved.

I walk to the counter with shells at the Big5 in Clovis routinely, maybe the store in that area adopted a new policy.

THe big 5 in daly city does the same thing. Now only if I could get them to the range to help pick up the empties.
