Attending first gun show - Costa Mesa

Hello, I am going to attend the Costa Mesa gun show in 2 weeks and I am on the hunt for AR lowers. With this being my first gun show, I don't really know what to expect to find for AR lowers, or anything else for that matter.

    A few gun show questions:

    1) My local shop has an assembled two-stage LMG lower available now ($555), and I'm not sure to either purchase it now, or wait to attend the gun show and try to find a preferred CMT lower. Any advice?

    2) How do purchases at gun shows work? Find it, paperwork, pay for it.... then does it get shipped to my preferred FFL dealer?

    3) I am looking to sell a Kimber 1911, as a trade or as cash -- can I sell to vendors at gun shows or am I better off at my local shop?

    Thanks for your time.

things tend to be more expensive at gun shows with the exception of reloading components.

This is probably the best way to sell or better, trade for what you want. Im sure you can get what your looking for and more for a nice Kimber.

You'll have a lot more luck getting what you're looking for here than at a gunshow.

Go anyway, they're fun even if most of the merchandise isn't even firearm related.

LMT lowers are great lowers at a premium price. You can't go wrong by getting a complete 2-stage LMT lower. It really depends on your preferences, budget and how quickly you want to complete your build. For the most part, "A lower is a lower..." Which brand lower you buy is generally irrelevant. A CMT lower will work just as well as a LMT lower.

              2) How do purchases at gun shows work? Find it, paperwork, pay for it.... then does it get shipped to my preferred FFL dealer?

Correct. It will get shipped to your preferred transfer FFL dealer and you do the paper work there just like an Internet purchase.

              3) I am looking to sell a Kimber 1911, as a trade or as cash -- can I sell to vendors at gun shows or am I better off at my local shop?

You could try to sell it to a vendor at the gun show but I don't think you'll get a fair deal on your Kimber. You're better off either selling it via your local shop or post it for sale with your terms here in the "Private Firearms for Sale" area. As others have mentioned, posting it here on the forum for sale will probably yield you the best results in terms of price and return on your sale.

              Thanks for your time.

Expect high prices at the show, you have better luck getting a lower here from a member at a better price or your local shop.

If you're going to buy a firearm (or lower, but then I repeat myself), usually the salesman will walk you through the process. When I think of this level of customer service for purchasing firearms at a gun show, I think of J&G Guns, by the way.

Anyway, if an FFL at a gun show doesn't intend on walking you through the process, you don't want to buy from them in the first place.

If you try and sell your Kimber, be careful as most dealers will give you way less than it's really worth. BTDT

If youre into beef jerky and nazi gear the gun show is a good place to go.

Actually the best deals are the one people carry in on their backs.
