I buy whatever I feel like (that I can afford). I've bought a LB 1911, custom shop sigs, a PWS Mk220, a Krebs KV13...etc but I've also bought glocks, snubbies, a Romanian PAR-1, Maveric 88s, sigs (I now consider all factory sigs garbage) and yes even hi points to satisfy my curiosity.

Quality to me only means that it the firearm is accurate, cycles and fires every round of proper caliber in it. I could care less about a High dollar firearm that dosnt work 100%.
Quanity is great to and looking at some of the post here is impressive. But why would you buy all of a manufacters guns in every caliber in every finish ? Its cool dont get me wrong. But I dont love any firearm that much.

I go quality within my budget and credit card limit. Quantity? Well, I do have a few Glocks, and a few of those, few of these and some of them.

If it looks like fun or something you don't see everyday, then it's something I find appealing. Usually it's just buying whatever is available since some of these things don't pop up too often.

I was referring to the machine gun mount and the other picture of several rifles laying on the light colored carpet..

I just took a few pictures this morning and worked on my inventory spreadsheet a little bit..

Quality, you can only shoot one at a time. variety is better. At one time i had 9 rifles of the same type. Now i have one of those and am just as happy.

I guess it depends on your definition of quality . My buddy and I buy very different firearms . He buys Sig , Browning , CZ , and crazy nice custom stuff . So right there I say he buys QUALITY first . I on the other hand buy Springfield , S&W , Ruger , Marlin . Many of are firearms are of the same calibers and types ( semi ? bolt ) . The only difference to date between his and mine has been price . Mine have went bang every time and the fact I shoot better means mine are more accurate .

I think I'd say I buy function over quantity but that often gets me a higher quantity do to the fact I'm not buying the Quote unquote "quality" firearms . I don't buy many high dollar firearms but All that I've spent money on have HIGH reliability .

Oh, you mean that "how do you keep the carpet clean"

I had just wiped them all down so there was no oil. I wipe the feet clean on the M1917A1 tripod after I am done shooting.

And, of course, I have no wife to complain about me putting my guns on the carpet.

I buy dependable, low end firearms. The pricey one's in my collection were inherited.

However, I do buy high end guitars.

I've been a quantity value gun guy, but I'm becoming a quantity expensive gun guy.

Already sold one of these to fund a S&W revolver. Will likely sell another one to fund a S&W model 41. I'm finding that after I sell a gun, another one mysteriously appears in the safe and my bank account mysteriously dwindles.

Interesting that most say "Quality" over "Quantity" but what does that mean?

I have 4 XDs that I think are well made quality firearms.
I have 3 VP9s that I think are the same.
I have 3 Daniel Defense that I think are the same
I have two Remington 12Ga I think are the same.
I have two S&W .357 that I think are the same.

So where is the Quality line drawn? Are XDs Quality? Are Glocks? Are HKs? Are M&Ps.

Where lies the Not Quality Line when it comes to rifles and handguns?

It's a catchy phrase to say, but I don't think it translates well to firearms, because quality is so subjective, as a lot of posters have already pointed out. Quality could be reliability or the cosmetic finish or smoothness of the trigger or historical significance or collectibility or scarcity. And even after having defined that, quality and quantity aren't mutually exclusive.
