A bad day at Lytle is better than any day at Burro. Head to the Deserts and leave the ranges behind.

I went there on sat morning, 1st time there, with a new rifle, treated super nice, was even told to show my receipt to get $4 off. Are you referring to the old timer walking up and down the line? I think he comes across as gruff, but was always smiling and helped pick up my casings.
yup, it did end up getting crowded around 10ish.

          Just my .02.

I was up there Saturday morning with my RPR. I go there when ever I have a day off. I always have a good time and meet some friendly folks. It does get crowded in the early afternoon and I've had my share of brass hitting me but it's still a good time.

                      Likely not.

The private range is right off the freeway and is called West End Gun Club. The description of the RO's does not sound like our guys and it is obvious where to park and there aren't really any corners to park in.

Lytle creek firing line is at the end of the road and is just off the pavement. Last time I went there was in the early 2000's and it was hit or miss with the RO's and I just didn't like shooting with some of the random people who would make it out to that range.

The RO's at West End are very friendly and laid back, as long as you are safe. Limited membership is around $65 bucks for the year and either 5 or 10 bucks each time you go on a Fri, Sat, or Sun. You do have to be an NRA member to join. Unfortunately, the range is only 100 yards right now for limited members and it isn't setup for shooting clays with a shotgun. It is a nice option if it fits your needs, and is 10 miles closer than lytle creek firing line. Legally owned, standard cap mags are also no problem at west end.

Past threads have also noted mixed impressions from Lytle Creek Firing Line.

over all my buddies had a wonderful time and I think I convinced them invest in a firearm. But WTF honestly I made the hour drive to shoot my ammo at a safe location with other friendly people. I invested some ammo and my guns to allow my self and my buddies to shoot a 22., 12Ga, 55.6 and a mosin it was worth the experience for a variety of firearms I didn't own. the lady in the counter was nice and the range officer who bailed me out after he noticed the rude remark was cool to. Like I said my first time was amazing at lytle creek second time was a bit BS now I have mixed results what now?

Grow a thicker skin and man up.
Either put up with it or say something to someone there when it is happening. In short stand up for yourself or take it and stop whining.

                          3 Choices
                          1) Put up with it
                          2) Stand up for yourself
                          3) come here and whine and feel sorry for yourself

What one do you want to choose. So far it looks like #3

                            Garand push up, Francis.

                            It's not hard.

I've had good and bad experiences at Lytle over the last eighteen years. It was my regular shooting spot from '98 to about '03, and then I switched to high desert BLM exclusively for several years.

I went back to Lytle a handful of times in '13 because of the high cost of gas at the time and not as much free time (long drive to BLM desert) and had some bad experiences that completely turned me off to the place.

I suspect that the people who are happy with Lytle are shooters who don't shoot EBR's, or are newer shooters who don't have RAW's that can legally use standard capacity mags (which Lytle refuses to allow).

My bad experiences were with staff and facility rules and regulations. There are better options for places to shoot than Lytle.

Haven't been back since '13 and don't see any reason to return.
