This is what I use. I use them at the range, in classes, teaching, wearing my helmet, around the house. I have several sets. Cheap enough to get 5 pairs to have everywhere and they filter out the gunfire and won't interfere with a good cheek weld or eye protection.

I have custom molded plugs. If they are done properly there should be no issue. I do have some electronics, I have not tried them yet.

What I do like with the molded is how low profile they are.

Those look intriguing. The manufacturer claims that they won't let any sound through above 85dBA. Have you found this claim to hold up as best as you can tell? Are you able to hear conversation OK while wearing them?

My experience has been with the popular Howard Leight electronic muffs sometimes doubled up with foam plugs but I wonder if these Hocks Noisbrakers work as well as they claim? I would feel let down if I payed $170 bucks for a pair only to find out they don't reduce gunshot noise to an acceptable level.

Ive never had a provlem with plugs, when shooting the extra loud toys like the amd i throw over the muffs.

yeah, they are legit.

i had the surefires, they suck. i had custom molded and they sucked as well as they tore easily. these new ones are the biz.

i shoot my scar 17 indoors with no problems at all. best part is that your HSA covers them because noise protection is a health care covered expense.

Thanks for the tip. I have a Health Savings Account that I never considered for funding a pair of Hocks custom molded plugs. I'll look into it.

I run EP7. Can carry on convo normally but hearing safe even on rifles. Much cheaper than electronic muffs.

I use EP10. I can hear conversation fine, but gun fire is hardly audible. Rated to 30 dbs. Also, the memory foam insert is very comfortable and form fitting. Best ear protection I've ever used, including muffs.

Yep, the best. If you haven't tried them, what have you got to lose? I got them for under $20 shipped. Replacement foam is cheap also.

Really, HSA covers this? I have some loot in one that I otherwise have no reason to touch (prior to active duty).

My ear pro budget just went up.

I use foam earplugs when shooting long guns and Howard Leight "Sport" electronics when shooting pistol of just lounging.

The best hearing protection is a suppressor, but since we are talking about Califonistan here, thats not an option.
