Too gun comfortable for CA?

I realise that most people in my life are shooters and or pro 2a. I feel like in my world I might as well be in a world the same as a free state. I almost forget how uncomfortable people are with guns.

The other day I dropped my truck off to get new tires put on. When I came back to pick it up the cashier seemed very nervous. "Sir I just wanted to let you know that we... We found a magazine in your glove box when we were checking your cabin filter." I played it off jokingly by saying something like "what? You don't keep one there?. He said that "I don't mind but just thought you should know." I like to keep some spare mags in the car and usually have one ready to go in the glove box or door.

1. I am thoroughly Impressed that he refered to it as a magazine.

2. In that moment I realised how comfortable I have grown in my circles. Most friends would be like yeah of course you keep a spare mag.

Anyone else get a little reality check like that. Like you forget the fear around guns and irrational thinking in the people republic of California?

For sure, like watching neighbors stare from behind a bush when I empty my trunk after a range day, however other times I hear, "Well I know where I am going if SHTF."

The tire place prob got uneasy because they thought you were an LEO and someone in the bay had a warrant or just smoked a joint on lunch break.

For me, I think it's the other way around. I've gotten too comfortable living in an extremely blue nanny state. I hide everything I do from neighbors behind closed doors or closed garages. I never post anything about my activities or beliefs on social media. Working freelance partly drives my motivations to keep as much as possible private because too many people here are swayed by their beliefs and fears when hiring. I'm constantly reminded that I live in a fanatical left wing environment.

You may have a point. My entire life I've been surrounded by gun people or people that don't have issues with guns. I've NEVER felt weird or odd using my hicap mags, loading/unloading my guns, or cleaning my guns in the backyard or in my garage with the garage door up. I've never been confronted or questioned about any of my gear. When I see people post questions about how do you handle this n that situation or about dealing with anti-gun family/friends, it has always struck me as odd. I've never had to deal with all the anti bull I see others post.

Seriously, putting new tires on should have nothing to do with checking cabin filter. They were just snooping through your car.

Good story, the guys that detail my car here in AZ didn't say a word about moving a few boxes of ammo and a tethered gun safe. While thoroughly vacuuming out the car.

Exactly, many places offer "free multi-point inspection" as a bonus service when in reality it's just an avenue to find other things to make money on. All filters and fluids in a vehicle are the easiest targets.

It's not just CA. Any urban area in an anti-2A state is like that. If that had happened here, my mechanic wouldn't have even mentioned it because firearms are so commonplace, unless it was to ask where I shoot and how hunting went last year.

I always keep an extra magazine in the car. You never know what reading material they will have at the dentists office.

The BEST service I've ever gotten at this one rotten carwash is when I left a case of ammo and a bunch of shot up targets from range day in my vehicle.
