I am going to mount handguns vertically (as a right hander, I will have the grip to the right, barrel pointing up). It seems more visually nice horizontal, but vertical seems like it would be faster and easier to grab than horizontal.

That is definitely a good idea and something to think about. I am going to do a model of something like that soon, thanks!

Yeah, imagine trying to actually grab a horizontally mounted gun in that foam. I would have to reach in, grab the gun and then flip it around in my hand or reach in and twist my arm to dig under so when I pulled out the pistol, it would be in proper grip orientation. Now, consider vertically. You reach in with trigger finger extended, thumb and fingers dig in a grab grip, pull out in proper orientation.

I am visualizing this, but in my head, vertical makes much more true utilitarian sense. Horizontal looks nice, but no one can see them anyway

You should do a mock up and post it.

Nice product...I know that may be a crowded field, but it looks tasteful and classy. Something like that would be good when the kids grow up. Too bad a full size Remington 870 wouldn't fit, but still, good work! The price is in a good spot too! Good luck.

Exactly and a robber is not breaking in to find my flag with a $500 shotgun that is worth maybe $300 now it's only able to be sold illegally. Pretty sure there are plenty of things in people's houses worth more in easy sight. Some people don't get that its not a safe but a spot for a quick grab in your living room. I have a hand safe next to my bed at night but this is great for living areas and out of reach of kids being on the wall. Plus every one of my buddies wives were happy to add it to their decor in the living room as the stained colors go with anything
