    I need a safe cracker

The combination on my safe won't work! I've tried shifting the numbers up and down when dialing the combination even tried just one number at a time. I've spent a frustrating 8 hours at it. Can anyone recommend a locksmith?? I don't want to have to have it drilled if possible.

A safe cracker as in an edible treat?
Or a safe cracker as in a harmless white person?

I think you switched two numbers.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

Dean Security if you are anywhere in the Southern California or mid-cost area. Excellent, honest, and that's ALL they do is deal in safes and "safe-handling" of safes.

I they won't do it, I guarantee they'll be able to recommend a trustworthy source who can.

Start by turning to the left, opposite a Master combo lock. Don't forget to go past the second number twice
before going to the third number.
My wife forgets the second part all the time.

First off, are you sure of the proper combination and sequence...L-R-L back to zero or similar?

If you are sure of the numbers and sequence....

Is your safe in a particularly cold location?

I've have had one of my safes get "balky" due to the grease in the mechanism. This caused the latch which should fall into the tumbler after the combo is dialed and the dial returned to zero get stuck in the up locked position.

Cold could also cause one of the tumblers to get moved by another.

Use a heat gun to liberally heat up the area of the dial... Give it a good heating, and try again...

                  It's worked for me.

If there is pressure against the door from the inside, such as a gun pushing against it, then you will have trouble getting it open. I had this happen and once I rocked the safe it opened.
Be sure you spin the dial at least 5 times all around to the left before hitting the first number

Also if you spent 8 hours trying it is time to walk away and try later....like the next day.

                      That was good.

I was thinking more on the line of a Saltine or Ritz cracker that was safe to eat.

I'm in the Bay Area. I'm sure of the combination and sequence. I've opened this safe many many times and most recently this week. It is in the house in a warm location. The dial spins normally, the combo has just stopped working. Very frustrating. The manufacturer says it's not under warranty. Not sure how that works on a safe with a lifetime warranty.

It's not about the dial spinning freely... It's the parts behind the dial, which can get gummed up...

Try the heat gun... Nothing to loose, as it will not hurt the safe or lock...

Also try pounding on the safe with a rubber mallet after you have dialed in the combo, and returned the dial to it's unlock location...

It may help drop the lever which needs to drop into the slots on the tumblers...

The locks usually only have a year warranty. It's in the warranty terms.
