My thoughts (NO physical evidence of a crime having been committed) exactly except, it's a gift and will stay in Washington. Nothing said or implied about sending blocked mags to CA.

And how is it that "service providers" (who are willing to receive and block magazines to 10-rounds prior to sending them onto their final destination in CA) advertise and do business from this forum do so legally???

Can Kes be charged with conspiracy for facilitating this?

Because sending him the magazines is more thoughtful than sending him the money. Should be able to do that right?

If you paid for the mags with a money order, there wouldn't be any "easy to trace" financial record, as there would be using a credit card. It would take greater determination (I would think) to charge you with a crime for gifting the magazines bought via MO, but someone would really have to be out to get you to do that, I'd think.

The other option would be to try and purchase a "gift certificate" with the stipulation that it be used for the magazines you wish to gift your friend.

          Lets see.....

I guess You could buy some magazines online as a gift to someone in a free state and have the seller ship them there.

You can also send money to a person in a free state to buy any magazines they want.

In first case You would be just PAYING for the magazines. In second case all You are doing is SENDING MONEY .
You would never recieve them or even have them enter the state .

PS. If I am wrong , please correct me .

Paying for the mags is not an issue, taking possession of them in California is a crime. If your getting them for a buddy as a gift and they stay in Washington as the property of your buddy then no issues.

I know Cheaper then Dirt is TABOO here but they will ship to an out of state address with a California order.

There is no way CA can regulate you PAYING for mags and never bringing them into CA. I am sure there are plenty of people who do that and store them out of state, for use when they visit that state (ie people who take Front Sight classes regularly).

Check with the vendor selling the mags. Many won't send product to an address not associated with the credit/debit card holders home address. In the past I had no problems (20 years ago.) Since then more and more say no way. Is there a friend or family member of his near him you can send the money to purchase for you? Maybe even send that person a card you got for him yourself to keep the gift more personal as you had hoped.

It depends on the company, I have bought several normal cap mags and sent to my mom's house in WA. I just leave them there and bring a few guns with me everytime I visit (still legal to shoot guns off her front porch).

Send the company an email and ask them if they will let you buy them and send them to someone else. Some companies will not let you buy them if you are a resident of CA, even if you are sending them to a free state.

Some vendors will not sell large capacity magazines bought by a CA resident and ship them to another State.

If the large capacity magazines are intended as a gift, then it would be easier to just give the giftee money for them to get the items themselves.

Seems OP is just looking for a certain answer. I'd simply send the guy an online gift card & be done with it. In before "but I always purchase an actual gift" Threads like this are designed for trolling & arguing, they make no sense.

Easiest way to find out if Checkmate will do it is just to try it. Checkmate will let you know if they won't do it.
