You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We'll preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we'll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness. (Ronald Reagan, 1964)

Yep. The Gipper signed-off the Simpson-Mazzoli amnesty. It fixed the illegal alien problem once and for all.

Here's a report on the Firearms Owners' Protection Act, which is the only piece of firearms legislation signed by Pres. Reagan as President. It contained protections for gun owners. Yes, it restricted ownership of full auto. But gun owners gained some ground with it. Reagan was the last conservative President we've had.

Discussion of a dead American politician has little relevance to current Activism and Politics.

              Lol

Gun owners have gained more ground with Obama than they ever did with Reagan.

A failure to enforce this act, after Reagan's presidency ended, is not Reagan's fault. The act itself was a decent concept. But now, when politicians promise to control the border, no wonder we do not believe them until they prove it to us.

You can't be serious. Gained more ground with Obama? What ground? You're saying Obama is more pro 2A than Reagan? What, sir, are you drinking tonight?

In 2008, Obama signed into the Fair Credit Reporting Act that allows people to legally carry handguns in our national parks. Obama has been unable to pass any meaningful anti-2A laws since taking office. Reagan on the other hand, well...1986. And when he was governor of CA, the Mulford Act that prohibited the open carry of loaded firearms. Reagan also embraced gun control after his presidency.

And, yes, I am saying that Obama has been more pro 2A than Reagan.

Careful... if there is one thing I have learned on this forum, it's that Saint Ronnie is the sacred cow you dare not poke.

There is so much BS out there about him that sprinkling truth onto the sheeple generally causes their brains to explode.

Look up the Mulford Act...... and BTW, he was also responsible for the AWB passing when it did not have the votes to pass.

                          Wow... now I've done it.

                          Read it and weep....

How about Private Citizen Reagan who pushed around James Brady in his wheelchair while he campaigned for the AWB and put the fear of God into the GOP congress to get it passed.

I respect your opinion (probably above anybody else's here) but I have to disagree. I think there is no hope if the average gun owner is swilling the Kool Aid about Reagan. We need to know the truth, at least IMHO. It is highly relevant since the GOP currently paints themselves as "the gun owners champion" when the truth is, the best thing I can say about the GOP is they really don't care while the dems are actively trying to take our guns. A Hobson's choice for sure, but people (and it seems to be the majority here) who think that a GOP prez to go with the GOP congress will bring a bunch of change in gun laws are (IMHO) having a pipe dream. Reagan is a good example of the GOP's policies on guns: lot's of talk during campaigns, no action until he turned coat and became a traitor.
