Okay this is really important. Don't touch the hollow point ammo, it is dangerous. Evacuate the house immediately. Go to the neighbors house and call the police. They will send out 40 Officers, the SWAT team, Bomb Squad and a forensics team to collect the hollow points. The Media will most likely show up to. Be prepared to give a statement for the camera saying how scared you were of the hollow points. If you have kids make shore you mention that the kids could have gotten hurt. If you don't have kids say you do. With any luck President Obama will have you on stage with in a couple of weeks. Good Luck.

Of course youre not required to do background checks. But if any reasonable person could say you willingly gave weapons or ammo to a felon, you might be in trouble.

It is illegal for a felon to possess or have access to fireams and / or ammunition.
You are in violation of law if you allow a felon access to ammunition. Therefore, if you allow a felon in your home, that ammo must be inaccessible, eg. locked up. This also goes for guns, gun parts, magazines and reloading components.

Now, I'm guessing that if you did not know he was a felon, $100,000 and a year in court might clear it up.
