    ARs in Cali?

I have to ask this question.

Seeing how the topic of ARs is common on here.

To be on the same page, an AR is AR 15 platform? If so, living in California, those rifles have a ton of alterations to make them legal here. 10 round max. Need a tool to release the magazine, etc.

My brother has a bushmaster you have fold in half to load.

WHY? Why buy them? Mini 14 are not altered, neither are M1s. And these ARs are pricey!

I shot Tavor at the range, a fellow next to me had it and was kind enough to let me fire it . . . It had a super long trigger pull. . . But ok overall. But for the price?

I think spending that money on Mini 14 or something similar and with that savings give the rest to the NRA or similar organization that can work to repeal these idiotic, inconsistent and confusing Cali gun laws.

Not sure if you are serious, but I have to ask this question.. why do you care what I like? I certainly don't care what you and your brother like.

my AR's (and other EBRs) don't have a 10-round max. I don't need to use a tool to release. I run featureless.

I see many AR's out there for the same price as a min or even less. Just because a person can spend $$$$ doesn't mean that they have to. They can get an AR starting around $500 if they want to.

Tavors don't have the best trigger because they are a .milspec bullpup, but there are aftermarket triggers out there that do improve the trigger.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

          I have all of those.

          The truth is this.

M1As are heavy as ****. My sister can properly shoulder and shoot an AR15. She does not feel as comfortable with an M1A standard.

Mini14s are cool but AR15s are generally more accurate, easier to breakdown & maintain/clean, and have much better after market support.

As for the BB and mag restrictions, those suck, but in a time of WWROL/SHTF, it's fairly easy to convert an AR15 back to "Freedom" configuration even in California, not to mention featureless configs.

Sucks for your brother, tell him to look up Radlocks instead. It's still neutered but easy to load and only takes a quick twist to go back to normal when in a free state. I'll take my AR-10 neutered over a Mini 14 any day.

I can build a AR for less compared to the mini 14. Also it's called freedom of choice, I can buy a ford,chevy,dodge,toyota,nissan,honda....whatever I want. My money my choice.

You should totally do that! ARs, AR15s or whatever they're called are confusing and complicated to boot

The reason we own AR rifles is to give the finger to this state since they attempted to ban them and failed miserably.

You only need a tool to release the mag if you care more about form than function. Seeing there are plenty of people who buy sports cars with automatic transmissions, it seems to be pretty common.

The bushmasters you had to split in half to load are from a long past era by the way, and getting an AR for less than a mini 14 is not at all difficult especially in today's saturated market.

This, and I think AR 's are more accurate, feed cheap ammo, and easier to fix/replace parts.

I could not care less what people spend their money on. But with all these ridiculous features on ARs . . .I do not see the attraction is. Only analogy I can think of is it is kind of like asking a guy, "why you like to go out with that old lady with kids, when here is a nice young thing here with no kids just as interested in you." If I lived in another state where ARs are unaltered, yes it is a no-brainer why a person wants one.
