If there were a background check that would stop violence, I would gladly support it. I am willing to make sacrifices for the greater good, but I am not willing to make sacrifices to advance this ridicules agenda.

Obviously not required to become POTUS and get nuclear bombs, so why should it be needed for a citizen to get a little bitty gun?

POTUS=job, not a right (Affirmative Action not withstanding LOL).

          Citizen=Inalienable Rights.

If you don't trust people to get a machine gun without background check STOP ALLOWING THEM INTO THE COUNTRY.

Back ground checks for tourists and other visitors OK but only on whether to allow them in at all.

Issue new arrivals Mac-10s and you will stop playing dumb real fast.

Just an FYI, but if you open an incognito window, you can vote again.

Repeat as neccessary. I'm positive our opponents are doing exactly that.

Are you saying that if there was a law that could eliminate violent crime, you would not be willing to agree to a small inconvenience? This is of course a very big "IF", but we are talking hypothetically here.

No law will eliminate crime. If that were the case, since murder, robbery, assault, etc are all already illegal, they wouldn't happen now. Your logic is beyond flawed. I do not agree to a "small inconvenience" that curtails.my civil rights that does nothing but make those who already don't want me to have any 2A right to feel.warm and fuzzy.

Hypothetically, if some form of torture would help police investigate crimes, would you be willing to deal with a "small inconvenience" and answer a few questions when detained? How about the "small inconvenience" of not being able to talk to an attorney until the police are satisfied?

                            Absolutely Necessary

Besides all the obvious reasons, a few personal experience ones:

                            1. Former neighbors kid - violent in school - beat up students with anything that came to hand.
                            Attacked a teacher.
Police were not called, - in order to "save his future"
After High School, it was not in the public records - so at 18+ he buys a gun -
                            shoots and cripples 2 people.

What if your child, spouse, mother was crippled?

Exhaustive Background Checks should include school records of mental or violence issues.

                            2. When living in Oklahoma many years ago, a young man bought a gun at a gun show (no background check).
He'd lost his job, and coming from the "wrong side of town" decided to rob a store.
2 customers and the store owner scarred for life, but still alive.

Yes, we need background checks - exhaustive ones

And, also, yes, vote for Trump - look at his great 2nd Amendment agenda:

Its easy to be "for background checks" as an idea. but the devil is in the details. if I, as a private party (forget about CA for a moment), want to sell my handgun to my neighbor, how do I do a background check? Can I just call NICS myself? Do I have to take it to a dealer? Is the dealer going to want to do the background check for me? what are they going to charge for their time? with the Local LEA do the check for us?

As we in CA know, dealers don't always want to do the background checks for us, want to charge illegal fees, put restrictions on when they are willing to do our PPT, etc. As for LEAs, apparently during the ~13 years that PPTs through your local LEA were an option, only a handful of PPTs were processed there instead of at the local FFL.
                              Jack

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

No posts of mine are to be construed as legal advice, which can only be given by a lawyer.
