    Fort Courage is awesome

    Tim was very fast, courteous and professional on a PPT I did today. Great place. If you're ever near Simi Valley, definately stop by.

    I just wish it was closer to civilization (such as it is).

      Well as long as the other private party doesn't have sellers remorse over the price and then calls his buddy there at Fort Courage who then cancels the DROS without even a courtesy call to the buyer AFTER payment had been tendered!!
      TURNING and turning in the widening gyre
      The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
      Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
      Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
      The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
      The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
      The best lack all conviction, while the worst
      Are full of passionate intensity.

              Cudakid (assuming he was the buyer) bid on a shotgun on Auction Arms (a Browning Citori 4 barrel set). The gun had a reserve price of $6,000. His bid was $3,200. The auction closed without the reserve being met. CK contacted the seller and indicated he wanted the shotgun. Seller brings the gun into the shop and tells us to expect a cashier's check for $6000 (the original reserve price). CK comes in and registers the gun and leaves me a check for $3,200. Seller comes in and says that wasn't the deal and calls CK for an explaination. In the course of that conversation CK says that if there is no deal, he wants to be compensated for his time and travel expense or he would make serious trouble for the buyer (CK being a Treasury Dept. LEO). Seller says no deal so I cancel the DROS per the seller's insructions. I subsequently learned that CK extorted $225 from the seller for his time and gas money.

              Was there miscommunication between buyer and seller? Probably. If there wasn't, then the deal would have gone through. Had they met face to face, there wouldn't have been an issue of cancelling a DROS. None would have been started. But until the buyer and seller reach mutual agreement on price, the seller is in charge of the show. If he says no deal, it's no deal.

              This wasn't a case of seller's remorse from my perspective. It was a buyer thinking they were going to get a $6,000 shotgun set for $3,200 and when they didn't, they used their official position to leverage $$ from a young seller. Not acceptable in anyone's book. CK can act like the injured party, but when he uses his official position for personal gain, courtesy becomes irrelavant.

              And that's the rest of the story.

                        Cudakid,

                        If you are indeed the buyer described, (and not just a third party posting rumors you heard) I want to really, really thank you. NOT!

                        You are the special kind of "person" who serves as a Fed LEO that gives the rest of us a bad name. Thanks for pouring fuel on the fire for those who feel that LEO's, let alone FED employees strong arm folks.....

                        I hope it is never my displeasure to have to work with you. The holier than thou "Pay me for my time and trouble"??? WTF...

                        How many IG complaints you have going right now?????

                            Tim is a great guy, and I feel he runs his shop in a most professional and friendly manner. I've always got fast, friendly help, and a straight, no b.s. answer to any questions I've had when dealing with him. Recently, I had a gun show up, unannounced due to a mix up at the senders end, and it was handled smoothly, and in a way I think we'd all appreciate..I drive by a couple other ffl's to use his services, and I think it's well worth it.

                            I agree with the OP 100%..Ft Courage is an awesome place!
