The term appeared as far back as the 1920s.[4][5] A similar formulation "doubts fears and uncertainties" reaches back to 1965.[6] By 1975, the term was already appearing abbreviated as FUD in marketing and sales contexts:[7]
FUD was first defined with its specific current meaning by Gene Amdahl the same year, 1975, after he left IBM to found his own company, Amdahl Corp.: "FUD is the fear, uncertainty, and doubt that IBM sales people instill in the minds of potential customers who might be considering Amdahl products."[8] The term has also been attributed to veteran Morgan Stanley computer analyst Ulrich Weil.

It would stop a lot of the rhetoric and namecalling if we knew the details of the citation. You made a statement with no details just like now. What has your boss to do with this? Did he witness this? Are there any regs posted at range as to ammo type and target types? Next time you are there takes pics of any signage to show what is allowed please and post on here in this thread..

I bought the tin 22 lr and it is crap. I have found a lot of non lead 6.8 and .223 bullets reasonable priced over last couple years so i load mostly with that.

The globals are warming.Don't forget also to piss on a tree to conserve water and when at home do like the liberals don't flush except after three loads and most of all the only acceptable lead is that in your pencil unless you've gone trans.

I would also like more information. I shoot at Oroville often, which is also within a wildlife area and managed by DFW.

There are signs there stating 'paper or clay targets only', but nothing about non-lead ammunition.
Just taking up space in (what is no longer) the second-worst small town in California.

Then your boss is lying, sorely misinformed, confused or ignorant. There were no citations issued for target shooting with lead bullets. Plain and simple. He may as well say that people were given speeding tickets for driving red cars. Or call your semi-auto PA10 an assault rifle. Or your Sig a Glock.

Trash, litter, and shooting televisions and other junk? Hell yes, and I'll say again, GOOD. But no one was cited at a target range for lead bullets. I guarantee it.

I did hear of a guy who was cited for a wildlife violation for shooting steel targets, which I think is complete BS if it was done safely. But, range rules (which are clearly posted) say "paper and clay only".

Oroville is fine to shoot lead ammo, don't worry. Just stick to paper and clay targets, as is allowed, and you'll be fine. I've shot tens of thousands of rounds there, plenty of those next to a green DFG truck while BS'ing with the wardens, and never had an issue. The dude next to me who set up glass bottles and shot them...well, he had an issue.

You are missing the point. No one is saying, "absolutely nothing happened, no incident whatsoever." What they are saying is a citation wasn't issued for shooting lead bullets at targets because it's not illegal. Your boss may have seen a citation issued but it would have been for some other violation. Did your boss hear the conversation between the officer and the violator? Did he see the citation?
