Only those who possess a concealed handgun license are allowed to open carry here with the new law. Come 1 January, it will essentially become a license to carry instead of a CHL. Don't have to do anything to update. When it expires and needs to be renewed the new one will just say LTC instead of CHL. I know most people out here say they will won't be open carrying. I will still conceal carry. Will be nice to have the option though. Now when I'm out hunting I don't have to switch holsters or anything to run in to town from the ranch. Or if I'm at a pool party, I can just throw a battle belt on over my board shorts and make a store run haha

Moving to TX soon. Have my open carry rig ready.

In an emergency, always dial 1911.

My gut says there won't be much change - most people will still carry concealed.

That's my dad's opinion who lives in Fort Worth. He's just happy he doesn't have to worry about "printing" while doing daily activities.

This is the general consensus and I believe the purpose of the law. There's lots of anecdotal stories of people getting ticketed or arrested when they bent over to tie their shoes or whatever and the handle of their pistol is visible in their waistband.

Of course the low life's will take it too far like the open carry people in CA and could possibly ruin it for the rest of us.

It'll be nice to not have to wear a heavy coat in the summer, too.
