    New ammo campaign

Hey guys, check this out. One of those projects like on kickstarter is on.... but this one is about ammo.

I checked out their stuff, seems legit.

A new polymer casing for self hand reload.
    More power in the ammo.
I am going to go over more stuff as I read...

But it seems great. Let's try to help these guys out in getting their campaign funded.

I am completely ignorant. Do i actually give them money or do i do like a pledge so they know they have access to me? If it is option 1 it is amazing to me that they designed these websites so people can con you out of money without even working. In my day we had to actually look someone in the face to con them.

Another member best summed it up as: You're buying stock in/funding a company, except that you have no shareholder rights or other recourse if they don't deliver as promised, and no dividends if they do.

Seems like a lot of gun people who lost out on the 80% startups were under the impression that they were purchasing x amount of product, but the perks are just a proposed "thank you" from the recipient of your money and nothing else. The 80% projects came out during one of the panic buy periods; this one is coming out right after the ARX guys made the cover of American Rifleman.

                  Thanks but no thanks.

                      Crowdfunding is the future guys.

Look at defense distributed and their Ghost Gunner. People dropped $$$ and if enough people bought into the idea, they got dibs on the product.

The same with this. Right from the site is the typical agreement:
"What if Kinetic Doesn't Meet Its Goal?

Because we need a minimum of $225,000 in equipment to produce on a large scale and ultimately deliver these innovative products at an affordable price, we are using this "all or nothing" campaign. That ensures supporters are protected. If we don't raise enough funds to purchase the necessary manufacturing equipment, all contributions will be refunded.
Some ideas/proposals take off, while others don't. I don't think we as a community should bag on them for trying something that could benefit us in the future.

I don't see the value in this product. Their website also provides no reason why/how their product is actually better than traditional cartridges.

That maybe true but I see no compelling reason how their product is/could be better than traditional products.

Im all for new ideas that would benefit us but this is not one of them. Various manufacturers have been trying to make this work for more than 20 years. When commercial examples were available they were $2 per round. Multiple cases of bases separating from the plastic case with some catastrophic failures. Case dimensions were not standard so throw out your reloading books.

From the video I saw on their site (not the crowdfunding one), you can hand load them fairly easily. With that said, I've never reloaded, but it looks like a simple process.

This eliminates the need for a press. Therefore, for someone that's starting out with reloading, it will be a cheaper alternative in the long run. I could be wrong.

I'm still new to guns, so I don't have history as a point of reference. This product could cost too much to be a viable product. So who knows.

My comment was towards some calgunners that shoot down fellow gun enthusiasts who are at least trying to come up with alternative ways.

They've patented their product and those aren't cheap to do. If they manufactured them using the old methods that failed, then they'll go by the wayside. Then again, technology has introduced new methods of manufacturing and 20 years is a long time when it comes to innovations. Just my 2 cents.
