I had a delay in 2013. I faxed some paperwork from queens New York for driving from Pennsylvania to the Airport in New York with a target pistol in 2004 (All charges dropped) and my delay was lifted in less then an hour and I got the call from both my LGS that all firearms were approved so I know someone does work at DOJ-BOF. This was At the end of Nov-Dec so it might just be they get backed up and just delay people for no reason other then lack of agents to do all the Christmas rush DROS paperwork. I do not feel that is an excuse to delay as our fees should cover hiring enough people to do the jobs.

Since Christmas I have received one delay and one denial. The delay is still pending. I haven't seen an increase in delays post San Bernardino or Black Friday. You, you, and you: Panic. The rest of you, come with me.

Is there a number to call? All I get is automatedYep, and assuming the OP isn't a prohibited person, I'd bet that his delay is related to this. If I had to guess, I'd say that the CA DOJ is so backed up right now that they can't keep up -- especially going into the long Christmas weekend.
It happened to me a while back. I was supposed to pick up on a Monday. They didn't even get to my file until the Friday before. When they tried to run my info, the NICS system was "down." So they slapped a "delay" on it. The FFL called me on Monday and told me about the delay (no reason given). I received the delay letter from the DOJ on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I was lucky enough to get someone at the DOJ on the phone. He was very helpful, and went to talked to the investigator while I waited. He then came back on the line and told me what had happened. While I was still on the phone, the investigator resubmitted my info into the NICS system, and I was approved.Comment

I got the notice of delay last wed. Now I'm guessing New Years played a part in this as it was a short week. No letter from anyone yet.
