those are numbers are for "registered firearms". The gun ownership rates seem AWFULLY low to me, but I know that in most states guns are not registered at all, so this article means absolutely nothing.

If you multiply those numbers by 20, you will get a closer idea of how many guns are in any given state - and even that is too low.

If you total up their numbers I get 3,164,000. I rounded up on most of the "registered" numbers.

Michigan is near the bottom of the list but is second only to Texas in the number of antlered buck deer harvested each year. Michigan has a very strong shooting and hunting culture outside of Motor city where they just shoot. The ranking is bogus.
