    Embarrassing Slip

This past Monday, I was in the not-so-local Turners starting the DROS paperwork on the P90 I bought (for $124) when I made a terrible slip of the tongue. I asked the salesguy how many "clips" came with the gun; followed immediately and rather sheepishly by "I mean magazines". I could feel the stares and giggles from the guys hanging around the counter.

Now I am ex-military, have been around firearms my whole life and I have never used the term "clip" before. My only guess is that my mind was befuddled thinking of the M1 they had there.

Ok, I feel better. I just wanted to confess.

Now as a rant, I bought and paid for the P90 back in June but since it was on consignment I had to wait 30 days. Now I have to wait an additional 10 days to DROS. I have already forgotten what the old girl looks like.

    Oh well.

why does consignment make you wait 30 days in addition to the 10 days DROS?? is that a Turners policy?

Its part of their second hand dealers license requiremnet. All second hand guns must be held for 30 days while they are being run by the local fuzz..

Don't worry, I've made that slip before ONCE and it was incredibly embarassing even though it wasn't even around people who are gun savvy, even though I knew there were a few who knew a thing or two. "Yeah, you load it with clips." *1 second later* "CRAP! I mean Magazines! Magazines! Oh my god, thats the first time I've incorrectly used clip and magazines..."

            Repeat this mantra:
            This is a clip:

            This is a magazine:

            This is a clip:

            This is a magazine:

            Got it? Good.

Clips load magazines, magazines load firearms.

Daisy has airgun magazines that they mark "clips" on the packaging.

                    El Barto,

Don't feel too bad - you know better, and we all make slipups now and then. Just feel better knowing that at least you didn't do a slipup under more dire circumstances - gun safety, driving, handling knives, or skydiving.

                      A P90 for $124? If even in reasonable condition, that's a steal.

P90s are very very accurate - and tough. Triggers are a bit gritty but apparently they can be worked on.

                      You lucked out, boy!

One day the word clip will replace magazine..... Hell many words overtake other words.

There was probobly just giggles because you correctec yourself. As for the 30day policy is because the firearms was brought in on consignment and there is a pawn ticket on it and a copy goes to local PD. Turners is one of the few places that actually bring guns in on consignment from what Ive seen, most other shops do consignments as PPTs though Im not sure on the legalities of it. Ive had to deal with the turners 30 days before
Luckily the wait just made it sweeter

The day I confuse a magazine for a clip is the day I give up firearms forever!

You can all expect photos and range report when I get it out of hock. I saw it at the Turners and I jumped on it. The problem is that I have girlish-hands so I think I will need a Hogue grip. And if that doesn't help, you will see a post seeking a trade.
