    Anti-2A Trauma Doc

I had an ER Physician tell me today that he was vehemently against firearms. I asked him why and his response was, "Guns put holes in people and we have to fix them up."

I asked him if it was any different than having to fix up other major trauma wounds such as blunt force or blade wounds. He said, "Guns make holes in people and cause more damage and they have the potential to kill people."

I told him, "So do knives and blunt weapons. Firearms are equalizers against criminals with these weapons. What would you do if someone came at you with a knife?"

He said, "Even if I had a gun, I'd never shoot them because I've seen what gun shot wounds do to people."

I said, "I've seen what criminals do to people regardless of the weapon involved. You're not going to defend yourself?"

He said, "No, I'm anti-gun and I'd never shoot them. I'd just run away."

I said, "You're not going to get away from a criminal that's intent on doing you harm let alone one that's hopped up on drugs."

He said, "That just means I need to work out more."

Me, ". . . [Pause] I sincerely hope you survive that encounter and not be damaged to the point where you can't work out more. Good luck with that. . ."

I walked away in disgust. Dear gawd. This is the mindset of the country.

Sounds like a debate I have with the in-laws when I try to discuss what a POS Clinton is.

So the good Doc does not touch ANY alcohol because he sees what it does regarding car accidents/damage to the body, nor does he drive because a car can mess you up too??? Watch out for the skill saw too!

I'm curious as to what these medical schools are teaching these people. Are there political motives or brainwashing to the point where these life savers are not able to think logically for themselves?

Probably over 90% of deaths are caused by anything other than firearms. What would the doctor do then? Don't drive a car, don't drink, don't use a knife, don't... Oh, never mind...

You are using logic to address the doctor's emotional response and that will not work. Before using facts and reason you must address the emotion and move beyond it.

It's not med schools - it's their upbringing and the environment.
I know a few EM docs that are like this, but I also know a few who are very much pro 2A who hunt and shoot often.

You have to remember that in "D" urban areas it's very much politically correct to hate on the 2A.
Sheeple will always be sheeple. Pretty dumb, however, that as rational that doc may be with medicine, he's a complete fool to think that "I just need to work out more" will solve his problems.

This particular doc seemed to be of the new generation of medical professionals. I know many in the field who are very pro-2A.

What strikes me is the mentality behind it. Doctors are supposed to remain neutral and not act officiously. His attitude towards GSW made me believe that he would half *** his duties, as if it were a burden to fix up GSWs. He is not the highly paid, best of the best doctors that this country is known for. I sincerely fear for his patients considering he is a trauma doc.

What if he has his family with him including his child? Are they supposed to "work out more" also? What a stupid statement.

I spent years working in ER's as a trauma nurse. You find both doctors and nurses who are very anti gun and doctors and nurses who are very pro gun. It has always been that way and I see nothing that will change that.

                      It's definitely not something new.

Eh, I recently finished a combat medic training that was taught by an ER trauma doc, who carried a gun and was on standby for SWAT actions.

My oncologist at Stanford of all places had gun magazines in both the waiting room and the chemo room.

My local oncologist didn't even blink when I took off my holster and set my G43 on the counter during the exam.

Only people who live in such a secure and lawful land, can be so blind to a violent world.
I'm sure as he drives through his armed security gates, sets his ADT alarm and sits down for some MSNBC news, he can think about all us poor idiots and "their GUNS".
