    Moving to Fort Worth

    Hi all,

It's been a while since I've posted or even logged in and I need your help.

I was recently offered to move with my company from San Diego to Fort Worth and I'm pretty excited. My main question for you guys is shipping my firearms. I'm going to fly there and have my car shipped, so driving with it won't work. I've got a 1911, P229, Shield, and P320 but those I figured should be relatively easy to ship. The kicker will be my AR that I built from an 80%. Is that something that can be shipped? What steps are needed for me to do that? Also, I'm still debating on either selling my ammo and buying new when I get there since I don't think I can stock my car filled with ammo or shipping it but the cost to ship will probably be a pain in the ***.

    Thanks again!

You can bring them on the plane and check them in.
Put them in a lock box with no ammo and declare it at the check in.

Will the plane work as well for the 80%??

So much easier than I thought. Now I just have to buy a proper gun case for them.

            Lucky.

Take them on the plane. Male sure to declare them at the baggage drop off.

You can ship firearms to yourself so long as you are the only one who opens it per the ATF.

Yep. For the cost of shipping 3 pistols and a lower, you could just buy a brand new Pelican case that will last forever and fly with that!

Want to sell the P320? Keep in CA since we poor 2nd class citizens are so limited to off-roster pistols. And then you can easily pick another one in Texas =)

                      PM if you are selling

Couldn't you just pack the ammo in the car and not bring it up, it's your stuff so why is it any of the shippers concern what's in the car if it's not illegal?

                        Congrats on your escape....

Why not just drive them over? It gotta be cheaper than shipping your car.

Mail them to your self. You can request to hold at a FedEx location and then pick up there

HGs must be sent overnight. Expensive.

                              Just fly with them.

                              Which airline?

Buy a locking hardcase for the HGs and put that in your suitcase
Pack the AR in a regular locked hardcase.

You will be shocked at how little fuss is involved with flying with guns.
