The local Big 5 still does 11 days, even though it is now impossible to deliver earlier than 240 hours. I am told it is 'corporate policy'.

I made a stink at my local big 5 on a ppt I did there when I found out about the 11 day wait. Before I could get going, the manager said it wasn't a big deal and gave me my gun.

Cool guy, even after he told me I needed to buy a gun lock, he told me to walk out to my car to put the gun away then come right back in to do the return on the lock.

i usually dont pick up until 14 days at least. DROS one weekend, come back two weekends after. Keep it simple.

I have a local LGS with the same policy, maybe even the same place you are talking about. I always pick up on day 10. I wait a couple of hours past the actual pickup time, and I go in. Sometimes they give me static, but I always walk out with the firearm. I have another pickup to do there this week, and I will be there on day 10. If they ever want to sell me another firearm, that's the way it's gonna be. Just be sure you show up AFTER the pickup time.

The problem isn't lazy countermen, because the DROS computer will simply not let them process the release early. The problem is people who show up before 240 hours has passed, and then try to make a stink about it 'being day ten' and not wanting to wait until the release time.

Some shops will write on the receipt something like, "The earliest time gun can be released is after 3:00pm on ___(date)." They'll also tell the customer. That avoids the frustration.

With several purchases, at first, they've refused to release the gun, pointing to my receipt that has the 11th-day date. But after I explained that 240 hours have elapsed since the purchase, they'll disappear (probably checking with supervisor), then release the gun.

One of the local gun stores in my area requires an 11 day wait. I understand why they do it. They don't want to run the risk of releasing a gun before the final 24 hour period is over. It's them going above and beyond to cover their but if they have a lazy counter man. They are up front with this during purchases and transfers and have it posted all over the firearms section of the store. It still sucks and I hate it but when every other LGS in the valley charges $25-$30 more for the same pistol even after asking for a price match what are you going to do?

I still have two more days and a wake up to go and all I can think about is an 11 day wait time. I 'm surprised the waiting period even bothers me anymore after all my gun purchases but every single time I'm still chomping at the bit.

Personally I wouldn't give such a store my business. A store that makes an already-ridiculous law more ridiculous is one I'd avoid.

I do not worry about it. I have enough firearms to take and shoot at the range or hunt with that I do not let it bother me.
Need to stop whining and just enjoy the ones you already have. One day does not matter.

While I agree that we should enjoy the guns we have, please share how many days would matter to you (since 1 does not).

Unfortunately, this is part of life in the Golden State. It's a ridiculous system enforced by libtards whose sole purpose is to make owning a gun as burdensome as possible. There is no other purpose to this. California is on the bleeding edge of technology but the DOJ is still using an abacus and papyrus.. Because they like it that way.

I did a ppt at the local Lodi Big 5 a couple of months ago. Went back a day 10 about 45 minutes after the earliest release time stamp on the DROS form. They promptly proccesed and released the rifle. Unless Big 5 had a corporate policy change, I think the manager at your local Big 5 has HIS policy and is a douch...

I now have a FFL03/COE so future C&R longgun purchases will be cash n carry. The 10 day delay of a Constitutional Right is aggravating to say the least...

There should be no waiting period at all. Would you be okay with a 2-5 day waiting period for your right against unreasonable search and seizure whenever the police decide that you're hiding something? How about a waiting period for your right to due process? Background checks and waiting periods do nothing for "public safety". Same thing with registration. Having records of serial numbers does not solve crimes. It's because of people like you being okay with having their Second Amendment rights violated on a daily basis that we're in the mess we are now.
