Magpul leather belt...

I really don't understand why all the hate on the price... This is being advertised as a belt that is not only a regular leather belt but also one that is capable of holding the weight of a gun on a holster. Have the guys that are complaining ever bought a belt for this purpose? Have you guys taken a pistol class or any firearms class where you will carry a load out on your waist? A nylon belt with crappy hardware isn't going to distribute the weight of a G19 with 4 fully loaded mags on carriers while being able to move around with it securely and comfortably (much less a steel framed 1911 or even an M9). I have an Ares belt for my gun carrying times and it just isn't nice to wear with decent slacks or jeans without looking like "that tactical guy". This leather belt from Magpul seems to fit that bill perfectly and at a decent price for this type of product.

$36.00 for a NICE quality leather belt that does the job every bit as good or better than the magpul belt does at almost triple the price. I've worn my Amish belt now for at least 4 years and it looks like the day I took it out of the box. I'd recommend one of these in a heartbeat over one with a fancy little M on it.

Hanks sells the Kydex stiffened Amish belt for $80, and a dual layer belt for $110. So there is a difference in performance and quality from a single layer unstiffened belt - and Hanks/Amish recognizes that.

I'm going for the $100 Beltman dual layer horse hide myself - horse hide is stiffer and doesn't need anything extra Different strokes for different folks.

Yes, my Aker being polymer reinforced has allowed me to comfortably carry OWB or IWB a Sig P229, 2 spare mags, a radio, and anything else that I want to throw on there. I've worn the setup in excess of 8 hours on consecutive days. I own two, black and brown.

The Magpul is priced accordingly for the reinforcement, however there is definitely an upcharge for the brand name itself. I'm reminded of the ridiculous Magpul iPhone cases.

For nylons, the 5.11 riggers belt is cheaper still, comes with a cobra buckle, is super stiff and is 1.75" appropriately for duty rigs. I wear that when not in jeans or casual attire. Cobra buckles can be a pain to put on and off, however.

Maybe I'm not a belt guy. I have a battle belt for pouches and such. I see your reasoning. Just a shock from what I am used to paying for a belt.

Id still go with the Amish belt from Hanks Clothing or $30 bucks. Those things are built like a tank.

Sadly, unlike any other belt you can find at the local department store, this one is probably made in the US and therefore costs more.

Personally, when I buy a belt I wear it for five years at a minimum. Anything up to $150 doesn't seem like a bad deal for something I'd wear every day for half a decade. You don't wanna know what I just paid for two pairs of Mexican-made western boots . . .
