Sometimes using a different DNS server will go around blocks from a WiFi provider if they use a service like OpenDns.Last edited by yellowsulphur; 11-09-2015, 10:49 AM.Comment

You should not rely on DNS. In most of the instances when you read "the government has shut the internet down" in places with civil unrest like Egypt and Libya, they have not "SHUT.IT.DOWN" but merely implemented a DNS kill that catches 99.997% of the users.
Google "online dns lookup" and pick one that works well for you. KLOTH.NET is a good reliable one.
Enter the URL of the site you want, for Calguns it is www.calguns.net and click "Look it up!" It returns 216.218.212.231.
Copy that, paste it into you browser and bring up the site and save it in that format.
I have yet to encounter blocking software that catches Calguns when using IP numbers. I am sure such exists but the popular stuff is really brain dead and does more harm than good.
Repeat for any other sites you regularly visit that deal with anything controversial such as SurvivalBlog, Zerohedge or SHTFplan.
It may prove problematic with large sites like Yahoo and Google that use load balancing across many hosts but works fine for the those most likely to be blocked by .gov.sigpicComment
