I wonder if trespass laws are applicable to these devices. There is legislation in the works that may eventually require them to have unique id's so the owners can be identified. If so, there may be legal ramifications for those who overfly the private property of others without permission.

I'm a very responsible, and I'd drop one in a second. I've got too many pricey horses that freak out and schitt at strange flying objects, but that's the nature of the beast. And that's not even addressing the issue of my privacy on my own acreage.

im thinking quad , it was moving slow over one of my ranches, and it was dark out. it had lights.

You do know that the Feds use them , at night , in areas known to grow Weed ?

And another , they have quads/multi rotors that can withstand gun fire .

I fly one and let me tell you , they are damn near impossible to damage to the point of not flying back to its home location ( with footage of the attack).

Shooting down a drone might be a violation of federal law. There's some ambiguity in the law regarding whether it applies solely to manned aircraft; it was discussed on Volokh just the other day.
