Wow, very sad to hear. I am a member at FT3 and have also attended several CalGuns events there. The volunteers that put that together have always been great people and I can only imagine how this must affect them.

Thank you all for your well wishes. I can only speak for myself when I say im doing ok. Just wanted to post here to send my regards to not only the family and friends of the victim but all the calgunners and the FT3 staff that were there last night. Thank you all for being so respectful of the situation and bearing with us as we figured it out. It was a first for many of us.

I heard about this last night shortly after it happened, unfortunately I don't have a lot of details at this point but what I was told was that no one other than the victim was injured.

At this time it sounds like the victim was not a regular attendee but was a guest of a semi-regular attendee.
I do not know the name of the victim nor of the person(s) he was with.


I will add this, I know there is a desire to discuss this and that is normal and fine.
I also know there is often an urge to disparage the shooter/victim in these cases and I understand why.

However I want to remind you all that not only did this happen in front of your fellow Calgunners, the Shoot Coordinator who had to deal with this and the person who's friend this is are also Calgunners and likely to read this thread.

Please take in to account what affect this event and your words are having on them and their lives and keep things civil and respectful.
I guarantee today is hard enough without any of us adding to it.

Well said Kes, it is easy to get angry at someone for doing this but internal pain can be some of the worst pain to deal with. Walk a mile in someone's shoes before you condemn them, we all have our shortcomings and demons to deal with.

Sad to hear about this. As many of you know, these incidents are not unique, and have occurred at a number of ranges over the years. Many ranges have policies about not renting guns to non-members that have never shot there and not in the company of a member. Many ranges teach their employees to use their own discretion to try to identify individuals who do not look stable, and will not let them shoot. In the end, nothing will prevent a person from trying to take their own life at a range if they are set on doing it.

Speaking on behalf of all present that night, thank you for all your kind words. If you don't already know me, I'm Kevin the leader of the North OC event.

An incident did occur at our monthly North OC shoot on 10/27/15 leaving one of our friends critically injured. The newspaper article has most of the pertinent details. There were 3 Calguns volunteers and 17 Calgunners present and many FT3 range staff were directly involved.

As time moves along, there will be plenty of time to discuss details about the incident but right now we are focusing on the human element and making sure everyone's ok. It was a rough night.

Please keep the positive thoughts coming and pray for the injured, his family, friends and everyone who was impacted.
