Good buy or no?

So I bought a noveske lower and the upper is Knights armament. I paid 1500 for the rifle. It has less then 300 rounds down it.

My buddy who sold it paid around 3 grand for it. I'm a newbie so I don't know how to put up pics. But is there a reason it's not a good buy? Just wondering. Thanks for the response

The ar15 market is very saturated right now, meaning you can get just about any AR at a great price. What matters is if you are happy with it, but no it's not a deal

I'm a little disappointed now. I thought I was getting a steal because of the website price for the rifle he paid was over 2k. But it's a well rounded rifle. I'm still happy with the purchase. It's gonna look nice next to my DD.

Pretty good rear stock, horrible iron sights with no windage adjustment, I am not sure how good knights uppers are, is it chrome plated or stainless???...Noveske lower...well, any lower can get the job done....I bet it has a single stage trigger with a 5 pound pull.

Is the barrel free floating?

In todays market its a $800.00 gun. Yes, a few years ago you could sell an AR for $2,000.00, but there really are only a few good AR makers, and some high priced models don't shoot any better than a base RRA $800.00 unit. In fact some of the really high end guns won't shoot better than 1 moa with the best ammo made, but their ads are cool and they sound like they're serious tough guys making serious tough guns when what they're doing is selling style over function....like coach...only to men.

And without vasoline.....

But if you like it and its accurate, and the barrel is stainless and button rifled, and it has a good trigger, and you get some real sights on it other than those tacticool ones you will be fine.

$800? A good Knights upper will fetch $800 by itself all day long. While I don't like to mix and match brands, I bet I could strip that set up and get all of the OP's money back. Also, those are KAC sights, the front is integrated into the rail and the rear has full adjustment and is probably one of the best sights available. Comparing Noveske and KAC to RRA is insulting at best. While I believe for most a base AR will do, there is more than just marketing in these higher priced rifles.

It's not the best deal in the world, but it's not like you got bent over or anything. If you're happy with it, then that's what counts. Go have fun and burn money at the range.

You need to understand that there can be a bunch of variables to your setup and we (here on the forum) don't have full access to that info. You may not even know everything on the rifle.

For example, the sights were brought up, that rear sight alone retails for $150. The rail is probably a few hundred dollars.

We have members making sub $500 dollar rifles, others put together uber quality rifles costing thousands. It's really a sum of the parts, especially with a "frankenbuild".

All in all, you're fine. It looks like a fair enough buy from where I sit.

Now, go shoot it!

I'll start by saying that I'm not a builder. I like my rifles from high quality mfgs, with a warranty so that I have recourse and that I can more easily sell the rifle if need be. But that's me. YMMV

OP...KAC and Noveske are both high end, high quality mfgs. If I were a builder, I'd be happy with those parts all day long. You likely got a very good deal for practically new stuff that you couldn't have bought for that price.

There is, however, an issue with Franken Guns in general in that they can be hard to sell and hard to get your money out of. The reason being is that the collection of parts in a Franken Gun are usually pretty specific and you have to find a buyer with very similar tastes...which can be hard to do. There's also the stigma attached to them...that they may have been assembled by some yahoo who had no idea what he was doing. So typically, a Franken Gun will not come anywhere close to fetching the price of the components and may sell below a comparable factory rifle.

But that doesn't mean it's a bad gun. You've got good parts and if the gun is running well you probably have a very fine weapon on your hands. I'd shoot it and enjoy it.

The rifles original owner is a high end gun buyer. He owns 338 lapua and other high end guns. This rifLE feels very solid and has solid parts. If I could send more details but I've only held it when I bought it and when I saw it.
