I wish I could help but, the only firearms I ever bought from CWS were from (I think) you, Michelle. Where you the one who was selling lowers out of the house in late 2004, prior to a storefront being set up? The few times I saw Hector at gun shows and at the shop, I just got a weird feeling and, I wasn't going to pay his prices.

Got your receipt, perhaps even completed by Hector as well? Although he helped customers, wrote up receipts (I believe), accepted funds, ran the shop, ran the gun shows, he did all it all out of the kindness of his heart and never received a cent for it or a paycheck for working.

I have a question - Does everyone that works at gun shows and gun shops do it for fun and not for money?
Actually, yes. I know I have at least one Cold War Shooter's receipt. I just saw it the other day when I was looking for something else. October '06 I think was the date.

That was definitely me! Thanks for remembering!

(In a dream I guess...because it's been said that I had nothing to do with the Cali business!

I always had tons of fun and loved my customers! Brings back GREAT memories. I guess that is why I am having so much with my new business - I meet new people everyday, help them and their families. It is a powerful and great feeling sharing what I know and protecting them.

          As far as...

It's usually difficult to not find me working. With California prices, food, electricity, cable, cell phones, vehicles, gas and insurance--three children...means LOTS of work. Minor note, I lost my job at Quantico in April --- unjustly --- fought it --- and won in unemployment court.

          Civil court...ongoing.

I never trusted Hector; he seemed to be a shifty little bugger and always acted like ATF was going to sneak up behind him. The guy couldn't make eye contact for more than two nanoseconds.

At gun shows I preferred to deal with Bethany or Veronica, and of course Michelle for online purchases. I never had a problem with CWS, but never had anything to do with the Highland store, Hector or Valerie.

2017 and still Burned by CWS

Hi, I have spoken to 1hotshooter via email in the past. I also still have my receipt and have never received my gun nor the ammo that I was "supposed to pick up later." The money was a birthday gift from my now deceased grandmother. It was supposed to be my first gun. To this day, I still do not own a gun, even though I would like to. I just don't want to lose money again now that I saw how easy it is to be burned. Wish I knew how to get my money back....

I think your money is long gone.

Wow, $27.99 for a 50 round box of 40 S&W ammo? If you are concerned about being ripped off on your 1st gun purchase buy it from a reputable shop and pay with a credit card I guess.

Well one thing you can take comfort in is the guy that ripped you off has a lifetime ban from owning or even touching a firearm if he is a convicted felon.

There is information on Hector out there (Hector Garcia Jr., Age 53). The names of known relatives match his daughter, sister and ex-wife. Pay a few buck and you can probably narrow down his current address, which might be:

                      5098 E Sapphire Dr, Prescott, AZ, 86301

Maybe give him aa call? 915-479-8557 (old cell?)

At least if you pay him a visit, he is either disarmed, or a felon in possession of a firearm.

I almost bought a gun there back in the day. Im so glad I didn't. I heard that place in HIG is open again. I assume under a new owner.

I guess I'm one of the lucky one's, I picked up a CMMG AR on a sale they had.

I stopped patronizing CWS in Highland when they wanted to charge me $22.00 for a safety selector detent spring just after the Sandy Hook shooting. I bought a few accessories there before that, but they were often over priced.

My son bought a Stag upper for the MSRP just before he jacked up the prices.

Michelle, I’m glad to hear you are doing well and getting on with things. Best of luck in all your future endeavors for you and the family.

Hector should have gotten a lot more considering all the people he screwed over.
