    Glock 27 over a 23

So, Im really looking to pick up a Glock 27. Im choosing The 27 for better concealability reasons. I know its only a half inch difference, But as a appendix carry that half inch means a lot as far a maneuverability. I'm choosing the .40 as well for versatility, 3 calibers as easy as changing the barrel. Im sure im going to regret this, But whats yall's opinions on the 27?

I have one for sale if your interested.

I have one and love it, but might regret selling it later as its a VERY soft shooter for the size. AND VERY ACCURATE! no joke.

For carrying, this should be no problem.

Yes, the 27 is a great shooter. I bought an extra slide and barrel in .357SIG for mine. Just for fun. I upgraded the sights as well.

Funny, I've been floating the idea of selling my G27 for a G23.

Why I don't like the 27? Its double stacked design fattens it up to the point where it's impossible for me to conceal anywhere on my body while wearing normal clothes. I really do like how the 23 feels in my hand though as a slightly leaner version of the 22.

Have you tried a shield in 40?
I like my g23, but if I were going small I'd consider a shield or kahr, maybe a rami.

            Glock 27 over a 23

Get a 19 or 26. The 23 and especially the 27 are too snappy. If you start adding longer mags/pinky rests and longer barrels like the pics above it takes you to the size of a 23, so you might as well get that if you're set on a .40. Otherwise I'd suggest one of the 9mm models.

I already have all the Glocks.

But if I want to carry my preban 13 round G23 magazines in my Glock 27 it does extend the grip somewhat. Then again, owning a 23 works too.

The .40 round isn't that snappy for my large hands. The 26 and 27 are easy to carry around anyway.....

I thought long and hard about getting a 27 since my primary carry gun is a 23. I ended up deciding that it wasn't a big enough reduction in size to make it worthwhile so I got a Kahr CM-9. The Kahr is great in a pocket holster wheras a 27 would be way too fat for pocket carry.
Check back later for a witty comment.

Unless you have preban mags, you only gain 1 round with the G23 which IMO makes the G27 a much better choice.

I appendix carry my G27 95% of the time I carry. When I carry my G30S (almost identical dimensions to G19/23 - in fact, I carry it in the same holsters as my G27) I can definitely tell the difference in that extra 1/2 inch digging into my crotch. The G27 is FAR more comfortable to carry appendix.

For my vote, it's G27 every time.

Honestly, I like my g26 more than g19, although I shoot both equally well.
For your given needs the g27 would be a better choice.

Im Also looking to have the sides of the slide shaved down and the edges rounded to thin it out a bit. Will probably look alot like this picture when done.

While that looks nice, I probably wouldn't want to compromise the finish on the slide. No amount of rebluing looks good and cerecoat isn't worth it.

Think about a Pierce 39 PG grip extension. I know they say it adds 2 rounds but no, it only adds one round, making your mag a 10 rounder.

At that point, yes, look at a different gun like the shield.

I say glocks are either take 'em as they are or leave 'em be.

Of the two you mention, I'd go G23 all the way. The G27 is very snappy. There is a big difference between them. Much bigger than the G26/G19 difference. I have almost all the Glocks including the .40SW in G22,G23,G27,G35. I also have the .45ACP in G36, G30S, G41, and all the 9mm too. Of them, the G27 is the most unpleasant to shoot. In fact I sold a G27G3 because it was pretty unpleasant and only got another one recently when I had the chance to grab a Gen 4 for a steal. I have two G23G4s - they shoot like laser beams. I am switching back to G23 from G19 for my EDC carry gun soon.
