Purchased an AIAX 338 and a year later the new model comes out and drops the price of mine by around 2000 bucks and you are worried about 40 dollars

I offered a calgunner $25 more for an upper if he would meet me at my FFL.

Buying something and then finding it cheaper at another time and place isn't really "overpaying". You bought it when, where and for the price you chose to buy it.

If $40.00 is the biggest "mistake" you are going to ever make in your life, you may as well take advantage of California's right to die law now and quit while you are ahead.

Oh, don't ever go to Vegas....a couple of free drinks at a blackjack table can wind up costing you a few hundred dollars.

Yes, every time I've purchased a firearm in California. Which is all of my firearms.

Doubly so whenever I get the bright idea to order something online. +40-50 bucks right there.

                    You bet.
I've waited for a while for a better price know there was one out there and realized that the market is the market.
I'm not really a seller but I pay attention to what's out there. Some I thought were good deals have turned into great deals and some I thought were good deals were.

                    From the seller's perspective.

You know looking back I don't think I ever have overpaid for a firearm.
I've always been able to find pretty sweet deals or talk myself out of something that was priced higher than what I consider it's fair market value.
But I'm not saying that it won't ever happen.. I've just been good so far.

Now ammunition on the other hand, I will admit to slightly overpaying for that sometimes.
if it's something I really want,
like a certain type of home defense stuff, which is outrageously priced anyway,
or if I'm really in need.

Not that I can remember. In hundreds of gun purchases I have always been very careful not to do so it goes against my very nature. I've passed guns up before because I felt they were $25-50 too overpriced many times.

Just because you didn't get the best possible price doesn't mean you overpaid. No matter what you buy in life, you're almost always going to find that you could have gotten it cheaper another place or time. Do your research, know the market, shop accordingly.

Yep, because I wanted that very one and I've done it several times.
