    DROS delayed... Again

I've purchased several firearms this year and have never had a problem with the DROS process and picking up on the 10th day. Last month I bought a rifle online and had shipped to a LGS and about a week later I did a PPT for a pistol at a different shop from a fellow CalGunner. I was notified the day before both expected pick up dates that my DROS has been delayed although nothing in my background has changed. The only things that changed for these two purchases were:
    1) I used different FFLs for the DROS than I normally use
    2) A few days before the first DROS I had submitted a Live Scan for my COE / FFL03
Also, I never use my ss# for DROS, and I don't have a common name. Is there a reason for the back to back delays & should I submit another Live Scan to prevent this from happening with future purchases?
    Any help/advice is appreciated

I would wait and see what happens with the delay. There may be things you can do to prevent this in the future, but first you'd need to know what is causing it - ie something on the state or federal level.

Have you ever lived out of state, or have you ever been arrested?

Seems these things happen all the time. Probably a case of mistaken identity.

I was born out of state but have lived in CA for 30+ years and yes I was arrest 2 times when I was younger, 15+ years ago, but those were non violent and are resolved with the courts. Like I said, I have never had an issue being delayed in the past. And haven't had any recent run ins with the law

This is probably your reason. When they do the simple search you flag as having been arrested. Now they have to look deeper to see what you were arrested for, what the out come was, and how long ago it was.

If I were to submit a Live Scan to DOJ, would that prevent future delays?

Just keep hope alive. It will work itself out eventually.

Probably not. I normally only recommend paying the fee for a live scan if you have been denied.

Often people with something on their records are delayed once or twice then for some reason DOJ catches on they are no longer delayed.

FYI, supplying or not supplying your SSN on the 4473 makes no difference to CALDOJ. There is absolutely no place to put the SSN when the dealer starts your DROS.

3rd straight delay today.. As if the 10 day wait wasn't bad enough, 30 is ridiculous! Also called DOJ and they were absolutely no help at all..

Is the same purchase or 3 different purchases? After 30 days the FFL can release the firearm if no determination has been made, although some wont.

3 different purchases, and all 3 FFL said they will release after 30. What I don't understand is that I have never been delayed before, and my name is very uncommon. From what I've researched there are 2 other people in the country with my first & last name & neither live in CA. I have had zero run ins with the law in 15+ years but all of a sudden I keep getting delayed
