If using a shotgun at Insights it is required to use their birdshot at some very gouge price.

Wow, it sounds like a lot of LA area ranges have a lot of dumb, inconvenient rules. No ARs? Have to buy the ranges vastly overpriced ammo? 25 yard AR shooting? I cannot comprehend why people what to shoot as AR at 25 yards, unless it is plinking with a .22.

I go to Island View in Ventura on occasion and I inexplicably see people shooting .308 and larger caliber rifles and their range is only 55 feet max! I guess if you need to just check function but I have seen people sit there and shoot 300 rounds of .308 at a target that is 20 feet away. If that's what you like to do, more power to you but it seems like a waste of expensive ammo to me.

Come to the AV there's plenty of shooting ranges to pick from and super cheap if you know what I mean.

A Place To Shoot gets my vote as well. I try to get there early on a weekday when I can to avoid the crowds, and the usual annoyances that go with them.

I've always been treated well there.

Have you tried FT3 in Stanton? Seems like a closer solution for you.

What distances does APTS have for rifle and do they have steel or can you put your own steel out?

Hey Capy, I have not been to the Angeles range only drove by as one of my job locations is up the driveway from there. May I suggest A PLACE TO SHOOT, that is the name of it!

33951 San Francisquito Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita, CA 91390
                  Check out there website. http://www.aplacetoshoot.net
I go here a lot to shoot AR's and bolt action I believe it is up to 600 yards.

Last time I was there a few years ago, they had a 400 yard steel target and you could put paper out to 100 I think it was can't remember now, but remember the steel at 400

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Oak tree gun club looks nice and I like the idea of the restaurant at the range. Angeles seems cool but with only iron sights, as of now, I wouldn't be using that long distance.
Why not? Iron sights are definitely capable of shooting long distance.

What 09cs says above is correct. Here is the info from APTS's web site:

The only reason they get away with those rules is because people keep going there and not enough are complaining.
It's no wonder this state is riddled with **** gun laws...

Another vote for APTS in Santa Clarita.

Rural, outdoor setting, not too commercialized like Oaktree. Friendly and knowledgeable RO's, nice variety of ranges and targets. Target frames can be had for $2.50 (going up a bit soon) and get your chip back for next time if you do not shoot the sticks. Be sure to try APTS at least once!

Yep, good place. And a while back, I took measurements on their target frames and made my own out of 1 x 2 pine and cardboard, the same as the ones they use.

Another Vote for APTS. McClane is the office manager. Super cool guy. Safe, yet relaxed. All the RSO's are good people. He will give you a good razing, but will also take good care of you. I like that they don't rent guns so everyone either owns or is with an owner.

                                They have steel at 100. 125. 150 and 400 i believe.
