I recently finished my first AR-15, looking for suggestions for a good range with fair prices near LA. I have Sharpshooters near me but I believe they do not allow you to shoot an AR-15 there with out taking some sort of class, which I heard is quite expensive. Then there is LAX shooting range but the lanes are priced per hour and their website says you need to shoot their ammunition for AR-15s. It looking like Angeles forest shooting range is my best bet, I have never been there, so I am wondering if I am missing any good ranges and peoples opinions on Angeles forest shooting range. Please feel free to correct me if my information is wrong and looking forward to hearing some feedback on the topic. Thank you for reading have a great day.

Angeles is a great range as is Oak Tree. The rifle range at Angeles is better than Oak Tree, but overall Oak Tree is a much nicer range (great restaurant and cold beer after the guns are put away). Oak Tree is more of a full service "gun club" than just a range. If a 100 yard rifle range will work for you then no question go to Oak Tree. If you need a 600 yard range then Angeles is the place for you.
Southern California's premier outdoor shooting range on 100 acres in Santa Clarita Valley. Trap, skeet, sporting clays, rifle, pistol, and archery. Open to the public. Classes, events, pro shop, and bar & grill. (661) 259-7441.

honestly i go all the way to Iron Sights in Oceanside. I live in San Pedro but all the ranges here are expensive for rifles. LAX staff is hit or miss plus you can't bring any outside ammo and I refuse to pay $200 to shoot my rifles at Sharpshooters....as a trade for a glock 43. wtf guys, wtf.Originally posted by m---------------1Bump... also interested in 1911 for tradeComment

Angeles is the only place I go to shoot. It appears to be the only range in the L.A. area that you can shoot decent distances.
In your case just to test fire first before shooting for groups and sighting in your rifle.
Good luck,

Thank you for all the responses, I was skeptical posting since I figured google was giving me all the information on this, but I was wrong. Oak tree gun club looks nice and I like the idea of the restaurant at the range. Angeles seems cool but with only iron sights, as of now, I wouldn't be using that long distance.Comment

Insight doesn't allow AR's...shotguns yeah
the new place in Stanton allows AR shooting, but 25 yards is the max distance...Field Time, they have a flat rate for lanesLast edited by TeddyBallgame; 09-20-2015, 2:41 PM.sigpicComment
