16 inches. But why don't you just buy an m44?

            Chop it.
Chop it down to 16 inches and a bit.
Bend the bolt handle (because it's more comfortable, not for scope clearance), use a scout mount, put a scout scope on it.
Don't use the archangel stock, sand, grind, and otherwise modify the original stock to fit your aesthetic, otherwise it'll look just like every other mosin scout rifle. Maybe the ATI stock would be better, or get something from Boyds and finish it yourself. A synthetic would be more along the lines of what original 'scout rifle conept'.

Buy a bunch of stripper clips.

Don't forget to drill and tap the receiver for a peep sight and don't forget to replace the front sight after you chop the barrel. Seems to me like a gold bead would be perfect!

Might want to try shooting a short barreled one first. You might not like it.

I GREAT example of, just because you can doesn't mean you should. Also a FELONY absent the proper paperwork.

I found this picture online very illegal without the proper paperwork also very useless to have a rifle that short unless you are a survivalist

Exactly how would this rifle be useful to a "survivalist"??

Can't hunt with it, no good for defense, it and ammo are heavier then a comparable sized pistol would be...
