What do you need guns for if you are going to send your children, seven hours a day, 180 days a year to government schools? What do you need the guns for at that point?-- R. C. Sproul, Jr. (unconfirmed)

Well, I got the FGL-0 from applied.com today.
Two cans arrived. 14oz/each. The grease is stark white in color, but not as thick as the 130A grease sold for the M14/M1A. As an all-purpose firearms grease this stuff should be about perfect. The smell isn't unpleasant, either, basically neutral.

I started to order about $14 worth of Bill Wilson's proprietory snake oil and found out the shipping was $9!! I'd really like to have some of that stuff if there's a source that doesen't try to get rich off the inflated shipping.Things usually turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out.

Ok, I just can't get past the title of this thread. The words "lubricant" and "group buy" should never come up together on a gun forum. It's just wrong. So wrong.

Applied seems to ship fast, at least here in SoCal where I think we may be near a distribution center. I ordered grease for audihenry and myself. That cut the shipping per can from extortionate to merely a bit high--if you can get three or four cans on an order it'll be better (but check the shipping rate chart).
I'm pretty happy with it. When it came I lubed up the slide on my Kimber 1911. It's off-white grease that has very little odor and shouldn't stain. After lubing the slide rails and barrel with this stuff it definitely felt smoother when racking the slide, so I am pretty sure I'm going to like this stuff. it is about the consistency of room-temperature butter, so I think it will stay on the slide long-term.

I would need to know what its made of. I shoot both smokeless and black powder. For black powder you can not use any petroleum based products. On the inner works i use graphite, and on everything else i use borebutter. For smokeless guns i just use gun oil. normal gun oil and i have never had any problems.sigpicComment

I believe it is petroleum based.
I think it's a better lubricant than gun oil. I seemed to have feed problems with the Kimber using Rem Oil, they went away when I switched to CLP all over and ATF on the moving parts. Either the ATF was better or the gun was broken in better. The slide racks noticeably smoother with the grease than with CLP+ATF so I suspect it is another step better. Whether that matters no doubt depends on the gun.On the inner works i use graphite, and on everything else i use borebutter. Yeah, I'm noticing the same effects since I've switched to a 100% grease and/or ATF regimen of lubricants for my firearms.
Everything racks/moves/rotates smoother and just feels better. I used to use "gun oil" by whatever brand was being sold by the gun shop. I won't ever do that again. Please read the Calguns Wiki
