Never point your gun at something your not willing to destroy. DESTROY being the keyword.

Further, firing a gun is deadly force anyway; might as well carry ammunition that is effective, and consistent.

Put one of those in your gun and let the bad guy win, cause you will not get a second chance.

That is pure 'hogwash', IMO, which by the way isn't 'pure'. It exhibits animus, when the proper objective is to stop the threat.

If they ever come out with a round that will incapacitate and stop the fight without it being lethal, why not?

          And eventually, they will.

Your statement I believe to be totally irresponsible, and naive as to the possible criminal and probable civil consequences, which can last for years. More directly, my 'friend', think of all the money lost in defending a criminal homicide charge, or civil wrongful death lawsuit, if not covered by your insurance, which is likely if interpreted to be an intentional act.

I will admit that I currently carry 9mm HP ammo in my firearm, but look forward to the future! And if I ever need to use it, will do so to STOP THE THREAT, NOT NECESSARILY DESTROY IT, THOUGH IT MAY HAPPEN!

Nope, use something like pepper spray if its non life threatening, when someone forces you to bring the gun out, you shoot to kill

If you are faced with enough of a threat that lethal force is necessary, why the hell would you want less than lethal? I don't think I have ever seen less than lethal handgun ammo.

There are less than lethal options, but they are not guns. Guns are designed to stop a threat by breaching the body and causing all sorts of internal damage which in turn incapacitates the attacker. Short of incapacitation, stopping is a matter of choice and attacker on adrenaline and with firm intent is unlikely to say "ouch, that hurt, why did you do that?" and stop the attack.

If you want less than lethal, look at Tasers and other options that are designed to incapacitate via different (non lethal) methods.

One shoots to stop the threat, not kill- big difference in the intent...could be the difference between a murder charge and manslaughter...I'd watch my p's and q's here and especially with the cops. Plenty of people get arrested for, and many times charged, with murder or manslaughter when they believe they were acting in self-defense, only to learn their rendition of the facts does not fly as it's not legally cognizable. Without an attorney and after an incident, keep your mouth shut.

Shoot to kill or leave your gun in the safe.

In a gun fight, shooting to stop the threat is the same as shooting to kill, should the bad guy somehow survive, good for him...what is your plan, shoot each limb until he cannot fight back?

In many instances, people survive their gunshot wounds. So I wouldn't necessarily characterize rounds as lethal, better described as 'potentially' lethal.
