I was leaving my family business with my father and brother in law at about 4pm today. Just was I walked up to our car and I'm about to load my dogs into the back of the car and my backpack in the trunk 3 guys ran up from behind me and yelled give me the F'in backpack N***A and grabbed me trying to rip my backpack off. I was carrying a Multicam 511 Tactical backpack, which had all my personal belonging's like insurance and crap in it as well as my locked up Larry Vickers RTF2 G17, with Tan Surefire X300 Ultra and my Sig P238. I struggled with them for a second or two before I realized that there were 3 of them on me. After they got my backpack another one of them proceeded to rip my chains off my neck. In all the scuffle of them ripping my backpack off my dogs leash flew out of my hand and my dog ran into the middle of Telegraph, Out of the grace of god she didn't get hit. I have no idea how.

After they got my stuff they ran to a get away car on 62nd street and drove down side streets towards Oakland. I called OPD and they got there for the report about 10min after it all happened. After an hour or so and 4 eye witnesses they finished up taking their report.

I daily appendix carry my P238 at work and my RTF2 sits on my desk. I've been robbed before at work and I work hard to try and prevent being a victim again at all costs, but because of the BS laws and how ****ty Alameda county is with letting legal people get CCW's I was yet again a victim, with the situation out of my control.

The whole base of this thread is to say that I was legally following the law with my guns in locked cases and thats ultimately what caused more guns to get out on the streets in the hands of worthless thugs to do more harm to more innocent victims.
If not already mentioned, this shows good cause x1000 when applying for your CCW.

Some skinny p.o.s. tried to "jack" me around there way back in the day. His friend he was with had a Fkin video camera! Lol these guys ain't worth sh*t. Guy swung on me and I just stepped back as he tumbled around. I just got in my car and drove away but one of them kicked my ride as I was leaving. I almost parked and came back with the metal softball bat I had in my trunk but thought better of it (hey I was about 17 at the time). Wasn't the first time I had "trouble" around there. For some reason the "people" around there are extra-retarded. I never have any problems in East Oakland.

OP since you can legally carry in your business, maybe (if the three of you usually leave @ the same time).. go to the car one at a time while the others cover from just inside the door. Once the first one gets into the car, he should open up a locked case and cover the others on their way out. Or something along those lines. Have unpredictable routines, at the very least

isn't carrying concealed a misdemeanor? i don't think it affects your gun rights either, as long as the gun is registered to you

man, when thinking about the alternative, which could be getting yourself killed in a robbery, how could someone NOT want to roll the dice and take your chances

could end up saving your own life

conceal carry of an unloaded registered handgun = 1 misdemeanor (also includes 5 year probation, which you can not legally own/possess firearms/ammo)
conceal carry of a loaded registered handgun = 2 misdemeanors (also includes 5 year probation, which you can not legally own/possess firearms/ammo)
conceal carry of an unloaded unregistered handgun = 1 felony
conceal carry of a loaded unregistered handgun = 2 felonies

A few years ago, local LE agency advised work security to not use "tactical" bags to transport firearms due to "tactical" bags being targeted for theft.

That's horrible OP! I glad you and your party weren't hurt!!

An honest question: If you were carrying, legal or not--do you really see yourself drawing under the circumstances that played out? They got the drop on you and lasted...what...10-20 seconds with 3 points of enemy cover.

I hope I never experience what you have went through. I would probably get killed, just on principle of fighting for what's mine.

That sucks Molto but I'm glad that you and you family weren't hurt. I live about 20 blocks from where this happened and though disheartening it's certainly not a surprise. One of my absolute favorite things about Oakland is its diversity. Unfortunately that diversity includes POS thugs along with kind law abiding folks. I doubt that our local lawmakers will ever wake up and see that allowing for ccw would actually prevent crime and save lives in the process and that is even more disappointing.

I would have absolutely been able to draw had I been carrying. I appendix carry and the bastard came from behind and grabbed my backpack. He wasn't even very forceful about it, I somewhat let him take it off me after I saw there was 3 of them. Had I been carrying I would have been able to turn around when he pulled the backpack off and they wouldn't have known what hit them because I wasn't facing them when I would have drawn. Two of them would have taken rounds right in the gut from about 2-3ft from my muzzle instantly. The 3rd guy which was the furthest from me seemed to be the one with the gun. He threatened to shoot, but I never saw a gun. His hand was in his front hoodie pocket the whole time. He was also the only one with his face covered.

Personally if I get robbed 2x, I will
                          a. get copies of both police reports,
                          b. Optain a recent copy of my FBI background check,
                          c. make copies of other states CCW I have (if applicable),
                          d. copies of all certificates from firearm related classes that I have taken.
                          e. 3 years tax return (if applicable)
                          f. a comprehensive written letter to the Sheriff.

I will then try to schedule an appointment with the big wig Sheriff himself, and secretly record the conversation.
if he chooses not to issue me a CCW, then I will be more than happy to seek Media help where appropriate.

I was born and raised in Oakland. My father and I were robbed at gunpoint in front of our house in the Glenview district. OPD showed up in about 5 min. but the perp was gone and was never caught. My Dad did not want to give up his wallet since it had a one of a kind picture of my Mom in it. I thought we were both going to get shot. Gun looked like a Walther PPK. Total score by perp was 26 dollars and my Dad's 35 year retirement watch from PG&E. Cal-Trans found what was left of our wallets on the 80 Fwy.

you guys are lucky. while living in oakland off fruitvale, my next door neighbor got shot and killed by a crackhead for $17.

he was an asian man returning home from a construction jobsite late at night (around 11PM), a woman and man walked up to him (they were black) and shot him with a revolver 4 or 5 times. opd came by to check out the scene about 10 minutes later.

I wonder how long the trial would be in that scenario?
