There is a quick, easy place to get to about a 20-25 minute drive from the strip.

Take the 15 towards LA, then get off at St. Rose Pkwy.

Turn Left on St. Rose and then your first Right at the M casino. Follow that road that runs parallel to the 15 for about 10 minutes. Keep an eye out on the left, as you pass the small mountain close to the road, you will probably see a bunch of cars and people having fun.

Turn left onto the gravel road. All BLM land, have fun!!!

You can camp, but it is going to be pretty hot during the day.

      Aloha!

I cannot stress enough how miserable a hangover is while shooting in the 100-degree desert.

There is no sleep in a tent after sun up. The light brings heat.

Cooking a goat is an all-day affair, maybe cook it first then bring it out.

I don't overnight in the desert if it's over 85. Not anymore.

I don't know of any places that way, sorry, but have you ever camped/partied in the desert over a weekend?

There is no amount of booze that could make a 100+ weekend enjoyable. Take your boy to Freemont and bring everyone out to the desert in a couple months instead.

Been to this area. Pretty nice.

Alternative: Sloan, just outside of LV on 15 heading West, Get off at the Sloan Rd exit, turn left and the turn either direction on LV Blvd. Look for dirt roads going out into the desert. multiple shooting sites, some organized some not. Most are visible from the freeway but the further back you can get the more there are and the more isolated they are.

I'd scout a day before to make sure regular autos can get in/out of the area. Some roads have ditches that'll require a truck or Off Road vehicle of some kind, some are fine for the Sedan crowd.

Just an FYI: This are was recommended to me by a Valet guy at the Marriott resort north of Vegas, so it came from a local source and I've used it ever since.
