You have the right idea. Talk her down when things get crazy and let her realize she spent a lot of misery and accomplished nothing. I have played mediator between my wife and daughter more than a few times. My daughter thought she had a God Given right to leave her room like a Pig-Sty. My wife and I did not feel this way. Every room in the house needs too be clean. I finally explained to my daughter that I own all the rooms in the house, I just let her use one of them. If she cannot keep it clean, I will clean MY room. All I need is 5 minutes and a 30 gallon trash bag. She never found out how serious I was.

Good luck. I know you will do fine.

Wow. I was feeling undedicated because I only get out to the range every six months or so.

Actually it's been kinda rough around our house in general. Because of some scheduling snafus the wife has been working almost every weekend this summer. No camping trips, almost no family outings. It's been a bore. Last night I was hugging my oldest before bed (he's eight), and I said, "We need to go hang out some time, just you and I." He replied, "Yeah. Let's go shooting!"
I've never seen an American flag burned at a gun show.

I haven't gone shooting in about 4-5 months myself. I haven't used my reloading equipment in a few years.

Been taking more vacation trips and traveling, shooting more photography. Actually though about selling a few guns and the reloading equipment.

During this time, just like DevilDawgJJ, I have acquired more guns, ammo and reloading equipment for the day when I can resume my shooting sports.

I don't regret giving up my hobbies to spend time with my daughter. I can already see the return. She is strong willed, gets good grades, and I have zero behavioral issues with her. She turns 12 years old in 3 weeks, and recently she has become even more independent, and has began spending more time with her friends. I think I will be able to resume my shooting in the near future.

Yep...In about 3 years, at the neighborhood boys.

Just as I read this, I have been acting as a mediator between my wife and daughter for the last two days. Same issue regarding the room. She is using the same emotional tone for everything she wants from school supplies to wanting to go see the "R"rated movie "Vacation". I just read your post to my wife to give her some perspective, it helped, and she laughed.

Back to the issue of shooting. I have no regrets in signficantly decreasing my shooting. I can resume my prior level of shooting at the appropriate time. Going shooting has no lasting value compared to the time and love that I invest in my daughter.

I have a plan. My daughter is strikingly attractive, even at age 12. When boys start coming around, I will shanghi them, and force them to do my yard work.

That's a good plan! It will accomplish at least 2 things.

Your yard will get done, and it will weed out the slackers.

                    It happens.
As far as my free time and money for hobbies and recreation,my priorities change constantly, boats,cars,dirtbikes,guns...
I've been dumping truck loads of $ in to my 68 Camaro project for the last 2 yrs. and maybe 1 more year of saving and spending before I drive it, so not much time or money for my firearms lately,or in the near future.

Bought a M1A1 SOCOM 2 sat for 5 years before it went out for the first time and I think at that point my 14 year old son went with me so he could shoot it also. Any of us with kids have been there.

Just check them periodically for signs of rust
                        you'll get back to it.

Yep. Same here. I may have not been shooting a lot in the last 12 years, but I have been involved with firearms. During that time, I have bought some fine firearms and several of them are in unfired condition. I have a new Springfield SOCOM 16 waiting to be fired.

Teach the family to shoot. You can combine family time and range time!

I shoot pretty frequently, and even more now that my son is joining me in monthly trap shoots and action pistol matches. However - it is the same guns that I am shooting regularly while others have not been fired in years. (A couple perhaps in decades.)
