Thats what I was thinking too. How the hell was a Mosin an equal trade for 3 new guns? Even high points would be worth more than a mosin (assuming there was 3 high points)

So either thats one pimped out mosin or the other party is a retard and OP should just be happy he found a sucker lol

A middle ground of responsibility (his) vs. consideration (yours), I guess.

He should get something, either money or somehow the rifle however that would work. You got his 3 items so he shouldn't end up with nothing. Could be an honest mistake or lack of knowledge on his part. Tuck the rifle away in your safe or garage and just forget about it for awhile. Luck would have it the day you sell it to someone else or shoot it and it breaks he'll contact you out of the blue.

Yea, I think you gotta wait a bit longer than 30 days. Like maybe a year.

If the FFL returned it to you then there is nothing to wait for, its legally yours. Anything you offer to do for the guy is out of courtesy on your part. You fulfilled your part of the deal. There is no moral conundrum here, just you willing to be extra nice.

I had something similar happen a few years ago. I sold a gun to someone in SoCal, they sent funds via paypal and promised to come up the following weekend.

                        They then vanished.

I figured that since I had the cash that the gun could continue living in my safe.

The person did get back to me almost 2 years later to arrange pickup. The transaction went smoothly after that.

I had almost the same situation happen to me. A friend wanted to buy my good old trusty 92FS. I hadn't taken it out for months and so I figured heck what are friends for. So I sold it to him. His DROS was denied. Here's where the problem started. He lives 200 miles north of me. I only travel up there once or twice a year so needless to say the 92 sat there in the LGS for a while. After talking to the guys on the phone they informed me that they'd have to DROS it back to me after a fee and 10 days I'd get it back. So I had to make two trips spend a few $$$ and the 92 is back home again. My friend and I did work out a deal to return part of his money minus the cost of fuel. All and all it was a good lesson. I did have the old trusty 92 Cerekoted and now it goes with me to the range every time.
